I purchased an engagement ring this week and I''m trying to get insurance on it. I have done my research and am 95% sure I will go with Chubb. Over the past two days I called 3 different local agents listed on the Chubb website. 2 will not return my messages, and the other was supposed to call me back after I faxed some information and I was never called back. I''m in a pretty big rush now because I''m leaving the country with the ring on Friday and want to have coverage for theift/loss. So if someone can recommend an agent that will be helpfull I would appreciate it. I''m in Florida. (Not sure if it has to be a local agent)

Thanks in advance

Did you call Dave Stone 1800-473-6603 - But if you faxed one agent already and he contacted Chubb, then Chubb protects that agent.

He''s a Florida agent and can bind Florida coverage on the phone. He is in Boca Raton. He is out of the office a lot, cause he does a lot of other business insurance policies. If you faxed the information to another agent, he may not be able to help you directly, however he is knowledgeable of the Chubb Jewelry policy details,

If you faxed him

I actually did call Dave Stone on Tuesday. I left another message today. I have tried 4 other agents in my area. None answer their phone, and none have returned my message. This is ridiculous, I''ve never had this much trouble trying to give someone my money.
I''ll probably end up going with Jewlers Mutual if no one returns my call in the new few hours because i have to have this policy before I leave. and jewlers has the option of applying online and you are covered as soon as they receive it.

I don''t know anything about anything. Why would you want Chubb with all the hassle instead of JM?

Seemingly, a well respected company with a reputation for following the policy of providing you with cash back if and when you have a loss, ostensibly allowing the insurance holder the freedom to buy whatever they like at the point of the loss (or not replace at all), and not have to rely on the insurance company to partner with you to identify a ring/diamond of suitable merit.

I just called Dave (I hope he''ll forgive me) who is still a nice guy, but understand his office is in some transition, with the hope of re-engaging this part of their portfolio soon (several days to several weeks at the outside seemed to be referenced), perhaps with a new person at the helm.

Sorry for being a busy body...as is usually the case, I find I couldn''t help myself. Seems like still a good place to go...just not right this minute.

I have had the same experience with Cubb, (including Dave)......have not received call-backs from them....
