help for 2 more princess cuts, great feedback from the last one

I have 2 more diamonds i have looked at the past few days
i have decided i will not get the other 2 because their proportions are not right

one is a 1.62 I SI1 for about 6800 with a table of 75% and a depth of 74
other is 1.53 H SI1 for 7350 table of 78% and a dapth of 68.3

the I SI is more what i''m looking for and although the table isnt as big (82) as the other stone,
i think it is but better for light

--what is a princess cut description on a GIA? is it square brilliant?

the other stones said rectangular brilliant on the gia report..is that still a true princess cut??

The table and depth are still way outside of ideal. And without further stats it's really impossible to give you a solid answer--especially since with a fancy stone even the numbers are not definitive

A princess on a GIA cert would be a square modified brilliant. A rectangular modified could be a princess as well, but it would mean it's more rectangular than square, which is something to note if you want a truely square stone.

i agree, both of these stones are still out of good contention. i suggest using the Pricescope search engine and I guarantee you will get back stones that are very well cut!!! for now, those 2 stones that you have found are still not as good as you can get, keep trying you will reap the benefits!!

Of these 2 you stand a better chance with stone #1 but the information is inconclusive. Crown height/angles & pavilion depth/angles must be known for a more educated opinion. A princess cut with a 68% depth and a 78% table generally results in an extremely shallow crown resulting in terrible leakage.

Get more info on the first stone and let us know.

nitro- where are you getting these stones? ( I mean that in a nice way...interested)... b/c they are not much better than the other two really bad ones you pointed out before. I strongly sugest finding another vendor...one who can find you some quality stones...or doing a little more research....You're looking at very high depths and large tables...not a good start to finding a great princess....did youlook at the gem appraisers chart yet?

you have been a big help. i looked at the chart but the 4 diamonds i questioned were from recommended people in the diamond discrict in nyc. Are the prices good for those rocks. i dont want to get ripped off and plan to get an outside appraiser anyway.

nitro- i don't know anything about the NY diamond district, however, I can suggest you try searching online for your princess diamonds. there are many vendors here that will give you far better service and diamonds than you are probably receiving from those in NY diamond district. if you are worried about purchasing online just type in any vendor name here and you can read about their performance. anyway, ive done the whole LA diamond district thing and if it's anything like the NY district then i would say purchase online!!!!!

You can definitely do better online. For instance, running a quick search (not even looking at plots or anything) using the "price stats" link on PS I found the following stones you might want to check out (and remember, EGL certs will have info on the crown height--although I suggest going only with EGL if you get the stone independently appraised):
