is it possible to get help on here to find your ideal colored stone? it seems to be ok for colorless diamonds i guess because there a million out there so you can post about them and not sorry as much but the colored stone world seems a bit more competitive?

I'm looking for a particular stone for a RHR and have spent hours trawling through the recommended venders websites and ebay and haven't had any luck. being in australia means i fear that by the time i can usually check pricescope in the evening i would have missed out on anything good that been posted on here?

anyway my specifications might sound peculiar but here goes:

cushion cut stone. must be square outline not rectangular or oval. and be precision cut
very bright. leaning towards lighter colors for more brightness. i LOVE the neon colors
color : mint greens, greeny blues, blue and blue purple. as long as they are bright and lively
stone : sapphire, spinel or tourmaline

my budget for the stone is under $2000. I'm assuming i can set it in a WG halo for $2000 also

so im not locked in to a certain stone or even color but more an overall look of a very well cut, bright, blue/green/purple stone hard enough to be worn regularly

any suggestions?

How often do you plan to wear this ring? How hard are you on them? Is there a specific minimum and maximum mm size you want to achieve? Since you are particular about the cut, I suggest taking a look at past and current offerings of the precision lapidaries to get a feel of their pricing (see what type and size and colour of stones are within your budget). When ready, check out Doug of Bespoke Gems who's in Australia who might have something that you like. I usually stay up quite late and am up in the wee hours so you won't miss anything too badly if you open up your options to include the US lapidaries.

wow that pretty tourmaline sold fast. hope it went to the OP.

Tourmaline is not hardy enough to be an every day wear UNLESS you're exceptionally light on your jewellery. Spinel and sapphire are much better BUT finding a stone in that colour will be a challenge as anything neon or glowy bumps up the price.

Oh and just so you know, coloured stone world is much much more competitive than diamond world because there are less precision cut, glowy, neon stones!

As I recall, Gene sold the stone some time ago, and it just has not been listed yet as sold...

That is a beautiful stone.

Hmmm...still showing as available to me but then I haven't tried to buy it ;))

when I looked at the page link the buy button was blanked out so I assumed it was sold. But you know what they say about "assume". :-)
Just seems like a great buy.

Me too  and yes, I guess with Gene's reputation around here it's unlikely something that seems so pretty would be sitting there for any length of time.
