Hi all,

I am currently working with my original vendor but at another store location, which has been good so far. They are willing to take my EGL 1.5 carat round G SI2 in for trade and upgrade. They showed me a 2.20 carat round with specs as quoted above. They do not do asset images, I asked, and I looped the diamond and it appeared eye clean with subject of side twining wisps, no carbon spots. The diamond is in my price point, (I was shooting for between 13000 and 14000 for the stone with upgrade) and they quoted me at 14800, with my stone counting as 7k for trade in.

Stats are:
measurements: 8.39 -8.42x5.16
Carat weight: 2.22 carat
color grade: J
clarity grade: SI2
Cut grade : excellent

Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Faint

Proportions:
Depth: 61.4%
Table: 55%
Crown angle: 34.0
Crown height: 15.0%
Pavillion angle: 40.8
Pavillion height: 43.0%

Medium faceted (3.5%)
Cutlet: none
Comments indicate: additional twining wisps, pinpoints and surface graining are not shown.

My understanding is that Js can work with medium to strong blue flour. I didn't know if this is an issue that the flour in this case is only faint. Further I didn't know if its in the 2 carat range changes the specs I should be pushing for.

I flipped the stone over to try and observe any of the inclusions from sides and underside, they were very faint and nothing appeared anything but white.

How does this look to everyone?
Are there things I should be concerned against?

[I should note, while I recognize other vendors might have better pricing, the only way I can do this upgrade is through my original vendor in light of the EGL certed stone I am relying on for the trade in]

Thank you in advance!

p.s. this was posted to "show me the bling" by accident, I already asked the admin to delete the other post. Thanks!

@Lorelei I know you offered to take a look in on my trek through this process.

Hi I did check around, I also tried to see how difficult it would be to move it as I had a preferred PS vendor to work with. Unfortunately, trade in through the original is Theo only way. I have observed the pricing in and between the same area. Right now I'm really interested in people's thoughts on the specs.

It wasn't something I disregarded, its just at this phase I'm a bit more restricted in what I can do.
Thank you for pointing it out.

@OoohShiny

The latter. The stone price would be 14800. 7000 of it is covers by trade in of my current stone. So the remainder would be covered out of pocket at 7k.

The specs of this diamond look pretty great to me. Some people will never go for an SI2 stone, but I have a completely eye-clean SI2 and therefore have no problem with the grade, when clarity doesn’t cause any visual impact. The angles on this diamond are great, fault flouro is absolutely no reason for concern. Can you please share with us the clarity plot?

@SimoneDi Yes, I had trouble with the post yesterday, hopefully this works now.2.22 carat gia cert.jpg

It’s hard to read, what is the clarity comment under “twinning wisps” under the plot?

@SimoneDi it says "Additional twinning wisps, pinpoints and surface graining are not shown."
I louped it and tried to see what I could, I could very faintly see the wisps form below but that was all.

Let me know if you want me to take another close up of the just the plot or anything.

Okay, thanks! My own diamond has the same comments, so while they can be alarming, the clarity might also have no impact on performance.

Have you seen the diamond outside of the store? I would ask to take pictures/videos outside.

OK, that sounds like a good idea. I can email the person I met with yesterday, she told me she was around all week.

@SimoneDi in your opinion does a si2 j not suffer if the fluor is only faint? I've seen people say that the j color looks whiter with what only seemed like medium to strong blue fluor.

Medium to strong will definitely have an impact on the color when the diamond is exposed to UV light. Faint wouldn’t have the same impact, but you might be able to see slight color improvement. Either way, faint flouro is more marketable, which may be a consideration for the future for you. If you have seen the diamond in person and you are fine with the J color, then don’t stress over the color. All of us have a different color tolerance. It is great that the vendor is honouring their upgrade policy and that you are able to trade in your EGL certified diamond.

Is it worth trying to get an Ideal scope to bring with me to the jewelers?
Also, having thought about this more over the weekend does it also make sense to have them pull GIA triple x round brilliants between 1.90 and over 2 that are H or Is in the eye clean range?

The first time we did this when we bought my diamond everything was so rushed and I swore to never do this the wrong way again.

It definitely makes sense to have them give you more choises. IS or ASET will help. My personal preference is for an ASET.
