Hi all,
I have been lurking on this forum for the last few months now and decided it is high time I actually posted to see if you guys are able to help me out.
Background: My husband and I got engaged 6 months after graduating and at the time we bought a relatively cheap bridal set (engagement ring and wedding ring) for me from a high street shop with the view that after we had got married and bought a house and were in a better financial position, we would buy the forever rings. The engagement ring is a cushion shaped halo ring with a cluster centre and we paid no mind to cut, clarity, colour etc at this stage as it was never going to be forever and to be honest I was much more ignorant towards these characteristics back then. Now the ring is dull and yellow looking in places and due to this, I am really after a diamond that appears bright, white and sparkly.
Fast forward 3 years and we are ready to buy the forever engagment ring and are looking for a cushion diamond to go in a platinum halo setting - I have now been browsing and researching for about 4 months to narrow down what I am looking for. The budget for the diamond alone is £2500 ($3600ish I think). So, the diamond - 1 carat (I have looked at 0.9 - 0.99 but come to the realisation that having an actual 1 carat or slightly over is important to me, I know that's silly but hey ho better to realise that now), originally I was focusing on D or E as I mentioned earlier I really want a diamond that looks bright white because my current cluster ring looks so dull and yellow, however after researching the last few months, I feel I could be prepared to focus as low as H as long as the cut is ideal and the stone is eye clean particularly on the table and preferably VS2 upwards with plenty of sparkle.
I am looking to buy through James Allen and think I may have settled on a stone, but I think the only thing which is concerning me now is that it is an H. This is the stone: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...s1-clarity-sku-4525645?a_aid=dmnd1357&chan=jo
I would really appreciate any opinions and advice regarding this stone and whether you feel it would fit with my requirements. If I have missed any information that would help then please do let me know!
To summarise, I am looking for:
- Cushion cut
- 1 carat
- D - H
- Ideal cut
- VS2 upwards but definitely eye clean particularly on the table when viewed from above
- Little or no fluorescence
- Optimum brilliance and fire - I really want a sparkler!
- To fit in platinum cushion halo setting
- Budget (just for diamond) £2500, which I believe is around $3600 USD (but correct me if I am wrong)
Thanks for your help!
