I have just joined PS and I have been looking at engagement ring for about two month now. I started this journey with trying to find a setting and I have decided on either a halo setting or a pave setting,

I have been searching on all the big online stores, Blue Nile, James Allan, B2C, Whiteflash and they all have similar setting to different prices, I need some guidance.

First were is the best place to buy a ring online?, I have been reading up on the different forums here and it has been a great help. After the setting I planning to get a 1,4-1,6 carat center diamond, there is a million things to consider which diamond to consider but as far the cut above or their expert selection at whiteflash seems like the right way to go or their am I overshooting with that category of premium cut in halo setting selection.

As far as I’ve been looking the only retailer that offer the setting stones in a in colour F/G a cut above is Whiteflash. If I decided to go with the Simon G there diamonds in their setting is G/H will that actually matter?. what I can see is that Whiteflash offer a Better diamonds in there settings than any other retailer, but I might be wrong here so all help is needed.

Which had the best setting quality wise? Whiteflash own setting be as good quality as Simon G?

I am looking st 3 differet settings and diamonds

Thank you all in advance for all comments and opinions in the end I just want to propose to the love of my life but before they the hard thing about choosing the right ring must be done.

For the diamond, I think your second choice is a good balance of size and color and budget.

Did you ask for a halo? Unless she has asked for a halo, I would not choose one. Of the two halo's you posted, I prefer the one with the plain shank (#1, https://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/selene-solitaire-engagement-ring-1591.htm).

For a pave shank, I like this Ritani one better. https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...1rz1323-halo-diamond-engagement-ring-3881.htm {sides are VS2/H}

But, I prefer (and often suggest) this setting for pave and its elegance. Its pretty and elegant and that pinch at the top really makes the diamond bigger.

Hi and welcome! Whiteflash has outstanding quality stones and settings (their own and designer).

I'll second rocky's question above about what kind of setting does SHE want? Many women either like halos or don't. Or pave or not. If she didn't specifically request a halo setting, you could increase the stone budget.

If you're not sure, does she have Pinterest? Snoop a little.

You can't go wrong with a WF ACA stone.

Are you in the US? (Shipping/VAT/etc)?

Welcome to PS! Congratulations on taking this step into spending forever with your soon to be, fiancé!

I’m* not fond of the 3 above for 1 reason: obvious inclusions against and under the table.

I searched for a comparison (my max budget was $20,000).
I found this:
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3801977.htm

You’ll notice a tiny, clear inclusion against the table, but it’s minute, and there are far fewer inclusions than the ones above.
Cut is king, here. You must decide for yourself what your priorities are, and which of the 4C’s are most important to you, and list them in order of preference.

My criterion:
In House ACA/Expert
AGS & GIA labs
1.47-1.75ct
F-J color
VS1-FL clarity
Max Budget: $20,000

I second the question posed by @rockysalamander: what setting does SHE like?

Thank you for all the help, I i agree with the fact that a cut above stone is the key and rather a smaller diamond with a better cut, i do not live in US it has to be shipped to Europe, i just have a feeling that she is a Halo girl but something that is class, if it was up to me alone i would get a plain 6 prong setting with a close to 2 carat center stone. the Ritani halo or one with the plain shank, but like you all say try to find out what she likes that is the hardest, i will keep looking and focus only on cut above stones from white flash. the Legato Sleek Line Pave is in my taste i think that one look just amazing

Again thank you for all the support

I love the Legato Sleekline pave! Choose that unless you are CERTAIN she'd want a halo. My understanding is that most engagement rings are smaller in Europe than here, so I'd be very careful not to give her a ring she'll feel awkward wearing!

I found two diamonds that within the price range you posted above that I personally like better, although you can't go wrong with an ACA!

I'd go with the 1.52 H VS2 if you decide to go with the Legato solitaire. Simon G is good quality, too.

thank you diamondseeker2006 » i believe i am getting closer and closer. i think that the Legato is the right one.. she is someone who prefers class and and you are right in that a more elegant ring is a wiser choice, thank you
