Help choosing between 2 James Allen Diamonds Please!

There was a thread recently (sorry can't find at moment) with a K IF brown & concerns over setting it in white gold prior to the owner laying eyes on the stone. When brian Gavin received the stone (think it was JA stone) they said no issues with setting in white gold. It was very "white".

I love the look of the K you picked - trust your judgement!!

Not an expert, but it is a very pretty stone. I think that your setting will hide the side view of the stone sufficiently that the color won't be noticeable to most people. Only you can decide if that will bother you though.

Thanks for all the opinions and advice! It turns out that the alternative iption, the 1.58 J, has sold anyway. I will stick with the 1.6 K and hopefully the tint doesn't bother me. Otherwise, it's back to the drawing board!

I picked a 1.66K at the end and I love it. I have also looked at your 1.6K online before but at the time I see it, I have already ordered my 1.66K. The one you ordered is very similar to the 1.66K I have so I didn't bother to exchange!

Thanks for sharing this! I read through your threads and followed along your diamond journey... it looks like your dilligence paid off! That is a gorgeous stone. I am super jealous of the extra fractions of a mm you have, it surprisingly makes a big difference in size appearance!

I am relieved to see that your stone shows a lot more colour on the james allen website than it did in person. It makes me feel hopeful that my K will have only a subtle tint. What are your feelings about the side tint of your stone? I know yours is not faint brown but its still a K for comparison's sake

I wanted to say the pictures I posted don't do the justice. In real life, I think you will see even less tint than the pictures. My camera can't really capture the sparkles of the diamond. But IRL, when the stone sparkles, it draws all your attentions and you cant even tell what color the stone is... In addition, I think that people cant really see the tint if they are in normal distant from you. I tried looking at myself and the diamond in the mirror and I don't think the stone is yellow at all (All I can see is the sparkles lol). I think the setting I have covers a lot, so I cant really see the tint unless I pay close attention. In other words, it doesn't bother me at all. One more thing, once the stone is mounted, its going to show less tint than it is unmounted.

Please post some pictures of your stone when it arrives!! I cant wait to see!

Comparing yours and mine on thr JA website, yours shows so much less tint.. I don't think you have to worry a lot about the color too much if you think my stone is acceptable in the pictures I posted because I heard AGS grades color softer (again, IRL, I think it is going to show even less tint than the picture does) Also.... The Blue fluorescence is very cool...

You’re going from an IF to an SI2? I have an SI2 Emerald Cut Diamond (completely eye clean), and it was a risk. That SI2 is a mess, and is nowhere near as beautiful as your KIF. It just can’t compare! You have a beautiful diamond!!

Lol no kidding! It is supposed to ship on Wednesday, so I will restrict myself to only using JA to oogle my stone

David Klass made my previous solitaire that I am hoping to have recreated for this stone. I've been having difficulties getting a hold of him though, so who knows! There are a few JA settings I am interested in.

Its been delivered! Just have to wait until I'm done work to see it! I will try to post pictures although the lighting in my house is really awful and it will be dark outside. I might not get any good ones until the weekend.

Okay, so as I mentioned, my lighting is awful and yellow. We just moved into this house and are demoing so the walls remain the original lime green colour (what were the previous owners thinking?!). As a result, I'm not sure how I feel yet. The cut is gorgeous and the size is so large compared to my previous 1 ct. I am trying to hold out on judgment of the colour until I see it in natural light and white light. I can definitely see the brown undertone when I shine LED light on it. Here are the best two photos I can get for now. Pricescope seems to be butchering the quality of my photos too

I have a feeling I am going to be up as soon as the sun comes up to have a photo shoot and inspect the diamond.

Okay, I have some photos in the light of day! It is a beautiful diamond and looks extremely white and bright in a well lit room. It is definitely faint brown though, and I have to decide whether its chameleon nature is going to bother me. When it showing its colour its either a dusty rose, light chocolate or champagne tone. I like all these tones, however I didn't think it would show it face up so much. I wish I had a temporary ring mount for it to take it out and test it better lit rooms and direct sunlight. I will try to get some direct sunlight photos later today.

Some comparison photos with the gang. The emerald cut is a GIA H, the OEC is an EGL J (definitely closer to a K or L), and the round brilliant in the halo is an uncerted I (I'm starting to think it might also have a brown modifier, mind you it mat just be dirty).
