Can someone please help! I know nothing about Cartier jewelry and I'm trying to determine if this ring is fake. I've looked out over carefully but I'm just unfamiliar with their markings. I went to several websites to compare but it's no help. I really really appreciate any info!!1000020490.jpg1000020483.jpg1000020485.jpg

Welcome!

They are almost always fake unless you can confirm the provenance or are buying directly from Cartier. Personally, I would never risk it. The commoditized Cartier and Tiffany is the sweet spot for fakes -- easy to manufacture and so much baked-in mark-up. You could have someone knowledgeable look at the diamonds; I suspect they'd be terrible in a fake.

Thank you for this info! I really appreciate it! My gut was telling me it wasn't real. I was going to sell it, but I needed to be 100% sure.
Thanks again!!

I own a couple of Cartier pieces: my "Cartier" stamps are different from yours.

Fake. The markings look like the common fakes. The word "Love" on the edge is not on the real rings.

im so sorry you ended up with a fake
i think with these rings if someone really wants one its best to buy new unless you can be 100% sure of its providence

Hi I would like to ask for help in seeing if this ring might be authentic! Could anyone please help? The seller says that it was purchased in Monaco in 2014/2015 but does not have the papers...IMG_1881.PNGIMG_1880.PNG

someone will be along to help soon

i would be very careful without papers
there are so many fakes around and we get threads like yours every other week and it often all turns to custard

i really think the best thing to do it to save up and buy new unless you personally know the person who brought the ring new

good luck
be careful

I felt it was statistically highly unlikely to be real until I read the "seller said it was purchased in Monaco" and now I am sure it is fake. Unless you are in or from Monaco or you know the seller and it fits their high-flying Monaco lifestyle. This is precisely the type of meaningless phony provenance that scammers use. "All I know is that it's from Beverly Hills," "I found it inside a LV suitcase," etc., etc.

I can't read what is in the cartouche, but if it is a * ,then numbers, then two letters it is a good chance that it is a real Cartier made in Italy. The letters indicate the city or region of manufacture.

Cartier can't tell you?

One of the element that made me believe it's authentic is that I read *634 TO which means it was made in Turin - Italy- by the 634 manufacturer.

Interesting point of view: do more research about the seller.
I only focused on the the ring itself (Cartier stamp, serial number, manufacturer,...), which lead me to believe it's authentic.

They all have this -- never seen a fake without these. I know there are some "famous" serial numbers that pop up over and over. (Actually, I have never seen a fake in person but have seen many, many threads here and elsewhere and countless scammy eBay listings.)

I may be wrong about this one but this is "trust no one" territory for me -- like an unsolicited email offering me an exciting opportunity.

Cartier will not authenticate -- plus, I'm sure they'd need 1,000 FTE for LOVE rings alone. They are a goldmine for counterfeiters because the intrinsic value, while significant (it's gold), is dwarfed by the mark-up. So I am a total cynic about these unless grandma bought it new -- and anyone whose grandma was buying new Cartier is not here trying to save a few bucks :cool2:

Valid point of view.
...I guess I'm the only one who would get rid of a Cartier Love ring just because, on my puffy finger, it's the most unflattering Cartier ring model:)

@Jkoh the lettering is off. fake.
