Hi everyone!
I recently got engaged and my wonderful fiancée is letting my choose my e ring :) I had never thought to much about it and assumed it would be simple to choose something but it is proving to be a 100 times harder than I thought! I have been researching amd scouring pricescope every day for the last three weeks and have changed my mind so so many times but I have finally decided on what I want! Now the question is how to get it....
There are two rings on pricescope that I absolutely LOVE - CharmyPoo's and Luckky's
I want the ring to be yellow gold Iike Luckky's but I want the setting and micropave to look like CharmyPoo's - essentially CharmyPoo's ring in yellow gold :)
I will be buying a loose diamond online and then sending it to a designer to get custom made. I want a cushion cut and at least 1.3 carats - I'm not too fused on colour and clarity as long as its eye clean and not obviously yellow/brown - would a L colour be ok?
Next question is does anyone have any advice about which designer to use??? I have seen so many reputable ones on pricescope but a lot of them seem quite pricey and I dont know how to go about choosing someone! Do most designers work in yellow gold? How do i go about getting a ring made that is like CharmyPoo's? do I just send pictures and a very detailed description of what I want? My budget for the setting is $3000 - is this reasonable?
If anyone has any advice I would be eternally grateful! I knew NOTHING about diamonds or e rings before pricescope and there is so much information on here it is really helpful. I am still a novice though and am feeling a bit overwelmed at the moment!

Thanks in advance :)

Another pic of CharmyPoo's
I love how thin the band is and the micropave (I hope this is the right term?!) on the band (shank?)
From what I have read I want the micropave diamonds to be full cut

An L colored diamond will definitely show a tint to it. Have you seen an L in person? Since you are going with YG perhaps the tint will be less noticable but I would still make sure that when buying your diamond have a good return policey. Wear it around for a few days and look at it in all lighting conditions. That way you know for sure if the L will bother you or not.

I think most ppl recommend not going below an I if you are trying to stay away from the tint but everything is mute pending how color sensative you are.

That ring you posted by Charmypoo is made by the designer Maytal Hannah. I think her pricing is around 3-5k in PLAT so it might be more reasonable if you want yellow gold. Just email her and ask for a quote.

Charmy actually wrote a really great guide for helping ppl create halo rings so you might want to check it out.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply and advice! I haven't seen a L diamond in person but I will be going to a few local jewelers this weekend to see the differences. I did read that I could possibly get away with J-L colour diamond as it is going to be set in yellow gold so the tint may be less noticeable. I have just had a look on Maytal Hannah's website - wow gorgeous rings! it does say on there that all her rings are in Platinum but I will ask if for a quote and if they work with yellow gold.

You may also want to talk with Chris or Mark at Engagement Rings Direct (ERD). They have done some lovely micropave halos recently and have their own cushion cut which is very pretty- so possibly one stop shopping. Their settings are also a bit more budget friendly, too. They offer custom hand forged as well as Cad/cast rings.

Thanks for the advice :) I have contacted Engagement Rings Direct as well as Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch and a few others so hopefully I hear back soon! Just looking into buying the actual diamond now - what hard work it is! so many different things to take into consideration! How low do you think I can go with diamond color? I am thinking somewhere between G and L - I wouldn't mind a 'warmer' color and I think it would pair well with yellow gold. I also don't think I am color sensitive at all so to be honest I probably wont even notice! is a GIA certified diamond definitely the way to go? also with regards to clariy, if I got something in the SI range would I notice any inclusions? I have read that I most likely wouldn't and especially because it is set in a halo and will only be viewed face down. Could I even go to the I range?

...

Yes you could go Si1 as long as it is eye clean, and there are many out there as such.
My wife's ring is an "I" color, and now that it is sitting in the pave halo, I can't tell, it looks like a higher color to me.
Best of luck.

Hi Hannah! :wavey:

I don't think you can go wrong with either style halo -- they are both beautiful. As far as color, I wouldn't go lower than J or K if you are going with an antique cushion. If you are going with a modern style cushion, then you may want to stick to I or better.

You said your budget for the setting is $3000, but what is your budget for the diamond? :))
