Help - 2 pointers or 3 pointers on engagement ring???

I originally told my boyfriend that I wanted a simple ering with 3 pointer stones on the band. I know he is working with a jeweler now to design my ring, but I am worried the 3 pointers are going to be too big and bulky. I think the 3 pointers will take away from the center stone. I really want something thin and delicate. I feel like I should have told him 2 pointers instead.

My ring size is a 5, and I think he will be getting a 1.5ct to 2ct center stone.

Does anyone have images they can post of 3 pointer and 2 pointer engagement rings? I would love to see the difference!

What shape is the centre diamond? Knowing the mm size is more accurate than the carat weight.

1.7mm is .02 ct
2.0mm is .03 ct

The size difference between a 2 pointer and 3 pointer is 0.3 mm. The thinness and delicateness will also depend on the workmanship; some benches can do it with very little metal showing whilst others tend to use more metal.

The center diamond will be round.

I am nervous the setting will be tall and bulky with a lot of metal. I just really would like to see the difference between 2 pointers and 3 pointers. My finger is somewhat short, so I am just afraid the 3 pointers are going to be too big.

That will depend on the bench and the melee size may not make much of a difference. It is up to the bench to set the diamonds high or low, minimal metal or a lot showing.
