Can someone explain the hearts and arrows facets? what is special about this cut? any pictures out there? how does it compare to a cushion cut? any info is appreciated...thanks!
It''s a completely different cut than the cushion cut. Hearts and Arrows is basically just a super ideal round cut. There are also square shaped hearts and arrows stones available at Good Old Gold.
Both H&A stones will reflect more light and thus be "higher performance" than cushions. Cushions are just a whole different ballgame.
Hearts and Arrows is a branded cut and is a very interesting subject which can require much reading to learn all about the aspects of the cut and it's creative process - here is a link for you to start you off here. Also please be aware that although some diamonds may show an arrow pattern, this does not necessarily mean it is a H&A diamond. Cushion cuts are an entirely different thing and a different shape.
hearts and arrows refers to the pattern that is basically a ''by product'' of a certain facet arrangement, usually found (and best suited to) round brilliants.
Square H&A are again cut to exacting specs to have and show this pattern - a cushion is a different kettle of fish which can take on very different personalities and looks according to it's proportions and faceting arrangements. Also a cushion is an old style of diamond which has been around a long time and it seems recently has - deservedly IMO- come back into vogue.
