I recently purchased a diamond for my GF''s E-ring and I am now concerned that the HCA score of 3.2 won''t be good enough in the brilliance category. My impression was that if the color was good and it had an Excellent cut that it would be a great stone. It looked good in the showroom, but now I am just confused.

Will this ring sparkle? Should I see if the jeweler has anything better and exchange?

Here are the specs of the Round Brilliant stone:

GIA, E color, 1.61, VS1, Excellent cut
depth 61.0%
table 58%
crown angle 33 degrees/ height 13.5%
pavillion angle 41.4 degrees/ depth 44%
star length: 55%
lower half: 75%
girdle: thin to slightly thick, faceted
cutlet: very small
polish: very good
symmetry: very good
fluorescence: faint

Garry (the inventor of the hca) is talking about changing it to take the new research into account.
