HCA on IGI Ideal

Recently I've went to some local jewellery shop, and found about the existance of this particular stone cert under IGI, 0.52/F/VS1 with special comment of: Hearts & Arrows "IDEAL CUT ROUND BRILLIANT", pricing at RM 11,500, approx USD 3300 with conversion (USD 1/MYR3.5). After looking at the briliant stone and some marketing from the sales reps, I then post the relative scores over to HCA to counter check. To my surprise, the HCA produce a lowly result of: TVP-5.6 - Good only if price is your main criterion. Later part, I found that there's certain limitation whitin HCA on Pavilion angles of 41 from this partilar link: http://www.goodoldgold.com/Technologies/AConsumersGuidetotheHCA/
Question is:
1. Does IGI cert with IDEAL as comment worth to go?
2. Although there's limitation on this through HCA, I wonder if there's any other way that I could analyze if it's a good stone.
3. The sales reps claim that this stone is comparable to Lazare, and I've seen Lazare before and somewhat looks the same. Although I've not compared the 2 side by side, I wonder if the statement is true. Nevertheless, I managed to compare to GIA normal cut and it looks way better than normal GIA not 3x tho.
4. Any further comment is most welcome, please advice.

So...to those expert out there, is there anyone who's kind enough to shed some lights to me here?

Thanking in advance.

1) No. Looks like their cut crade is too general, rough.
2) Buy yourself an idealscope, $25 ++, and learn to use it.
3) If he can claim that, then ask him to support that claim by calling in a Lazare to view side by side with this stone, else B.S.
From the proportions, not worth looking into it. Check the stones under different lighting conditions, not just in the jewelry store, those lights make crap stone look much better.

For H&A, ask to look at the stone through a H&A viewer to verify for yourself it is a H&A.

Thanks Stone Cold, you're feedback is very much appreciated!
Phew, at least I know what I should aim for now. I was somewhat introduced with WhiteFlash for the ACA, I personally have not purchase any jewellery online, but it seems that there's plenty to choose from and they looks great too!
Due to the limitation in Malaysia to really chose over preferred table size and etc, it is hard for consumer over here to filter diamonds off the jeweller.

Perhaps I should give WhiteFlash a try. Prior that, has anyone experience it from the other part of world say ASEAN, preferrably Malaysia/Singapore?
Apart from that, if there's a small needle, slightly about the length of 2 pinpoint, yet perform well in HCA, is it worth the go?
Otherwise, if this WhiteFlash didn't get workout, I'll just prolly end up with typical Lazare...

Any advise on this?

I remember several singapore purchases, not sure of malaysia purchases.

For the inclusions, anything better than VS2 is eye-clean for all unless viewing under a loupe/microscope. Anything below that, case by case, best to ask WF if it is eye-clean, only way to go as mapping is not a good way to judge if an inclusion is visible.

With idealscope/ASET images, HCA score is mostly irrelevant. We use HCA score to decide which is a good candidate to call in for idealscope image.

If you are interested in any WF stones, ask them to be put on hold and then post the link here for review.

Wow, that's a really fast reply, almost instant :)
Ah..0.61ct, perhaps abit too much for an asian like us.
She's kinda small size say 158cm with thin finger.
I guess the 0.61ct could be the one overkill in terms of size.
If it's too large, worried that she might not wear everyday

I guess the only thing left for me it's either the following setting:
- Tiffany 4 Prongs Solitaire Engagement Ring
- Tiffany 4 Prongs Heavy Solitaire Engagement Ring
- Tiffany 6 Prongs Solitaire Engagement Ring

Without seeing it in actual to mount a 0.53, it's tough to pick on the above ;)

Height does not matter, finger/ring size matters. Actual difference in diameter is only 0.2mm.

I am Singaporean btw, but in US now. Bought a 0.97c for my fiancee, her ring size is US 4.25, not too big IMHO.

Let her pick? :P

Well..that's another factor...
Previously I brought her to Love & Co, her size is about 9 but it's still very slightly loose.
But going for a 8, it's just too small, kinda tight.

If I'm not wrong, the conversion from 9 to U.S size should be about 5.
Guess, the best bet would be 4.75?

Looking at the possibility for 4 prong, breaking 1 diamond drop thingie, I guess better bet on 6 prongs.
Hopefully with the 6 prongs mounting, 0.53 wouldn't looks too small :p

Hey Stone,

Thanks for bunch, you're indeed a great help.
With this, I guess I could proceed with the purchase soon.
Hopefully everything went well. The only thing left out is on the GST portion for Malaysia Custom Clearance.
Not too sure how much it would cost, should be tierh 10-20%. Hope it's not that bad.

Gotta think of some nice word to carve on it during my dream soon, left 2 hour to sleep.
Catcha later, ciao dude, really appreciate heaps!

Sincrely,
Justin Wong
