Like another poster I thought I'd found my stone. Until I plugged in the numbers in HCA last night and the score was 2.8 and this got me quite unsettled about it.

1.72 ct G VS1

What do you think?

I've been together with my bf for 8 yrs and in 2007 we decided to get engaged. So I started reading up lots about diamonds and learned a lot. But then for some reasons we've had to put the purchase on hold. Unfortunately I couldn't keep up reading this site and the (limited) knowledge I'd gained has slowly faded away. So when at last now we are in a position to purchase a stone I'm so excited about it and don't want to spend another 2 months reading up. Therefore I've decided to sign up and ask for advise here from the many knowledgeable Pricescopers and thank you in advance!

Slightly steeper than optimal. You can see the green in the ASET map on the AGS report and some light areas on the IS image. under the table. Probably not visible for stereo vision, especially when clean.

I looked at the images -- DiamXray and ASET show a little leakage under the table. The table is a little smaller, the depth a little bigger, and the crown angles are a little steeper than HCA would like.

Having said that, The ISEE2 test gives it a 9.5/10 -- so I'm not sure what is going on here.

Experts?

Here's an H VS2 from the same vendor that's a little less, but better cut (HCA 1.4)

FWIW, I would have thought the price jump for 1 color grade and 1 clarity grade would have been more. Oh well.

HCA is blunt weeding tool, ASET tells more. Perhaps ask GOG about the areas under the table if you are concerned?

Sometimes, diamonds with such a steep crown will spit fire from the crown...
I would consider it, and the picture looks nice!
It could look better than other AGS 0 diamonds, but I would not bezel it.
Ask Jon, but my guess is that the crown is very shiny!

Thank you very much for your thoughts.

So there's some light leakage under the table.

Stone-cold11- I don't think i can keep my stone clean all of the time..

Antelope1- Yes a high Isee2 score, I hope someone can comment on that. That H VS2 sounds good but
I do see a change in colour in a H stone. I have just recently accepted to include G colours in my search after I compared E, F, G and H stones.

slg47- It seems so. GOG doesn't have the stone in it's inventory and can only call it in if I put down a deposit. But I'm not sure about it yet

QueenMum- Is that what you are talking about in your thread about fire/flare in H&a stones?

As of now I'm not so sure anymore about this stone.

Hi bebell, yes I think that some diamonds with steep crowns can outshine ideal diamonds, and the slight table leakage won't be obvious, especially if the pavilion of the diamond is visible in the setting.
What does Jonathan think of this diamond?

Just keep in mind that a well-cut H may face-up whiter than a not-so-well cut G -- the color gradings you see are done upside down. So the cut affects the perception of face-up color ... a lot IMO.

If you viewed equally well-cut E, F, G, and H's and said you couldn't go lower than a G, that would be one thing...but if the cut varied a bit, then who knows??
