I was noticing recently that there seem to be more short fuses floating around PS than usual. I remembered that about a year ago this time, I was noticing the same thing, and ended up taking a break from the forums until things seemed to have calmed down.

I haven't been here long enough to test this theory... but it seems that last year and this year (don't know about two years ago, wasn't paying enough attention at that point!) starting around January the general animosity jumped up a few notches. Last year it seemed to have cooled off by April. Could this be cabin fever? Or post-holiday blues? Is everyone feeling a little more testy because we're trying to shed the winter weight for bikini season (I guess it's a little early for that)?

Has anyone else noticed this?? Or do I just happen to be stepping into more turbulent forums around the same time every year?

WOW that's a lot of question marks for one post.

Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one!
I've noticed that you haven't been around quite as much, I hope that changes soon

I do always love your sunny posts, SDL!

To answer your question, who knows. Maybe it is related to winter. During summers, in the afternoon I''d be out at the beach walking my kid. January it gets dark at 5 so I don''t feel like bundling the kid up and bothering. So I''m on Pricescope more. And like any friend, if you hang out way too much, you''re bound to get on each other''s nerves.

So here''s lookin'' at spring, kid.

Winter blues for me. Is it Spring yet?

I definitely notice it in real life. I wasn''t on PS at this time last year, but one of the other forums I belonged to would do the same thing. It''s cold. We''re cooped up. It''s cold. The sun is hiding. It''s cold.

Thus - crabby peoples.

And LMAO at walking the kid. Love it.

Seems like cabin fever. I don''t really let it affect me too much, but I definitely see what you''re talking about. It seems like even silly stuff ends up getting a little heated, and the odd joke gets taken seriously and bada-bing, bada-boom, grumpiness abounds.

It''ll get better with the warm weather. Everything gets better with warm weather.

(And I''m already working on my bikini bod, thankyouverymuch.

It''s never too early to start!)

I agree there seems to be a trend as far as time of year and skirmishes here on PS. I just hide in my igloo until things settle down, usually. I think people have more time to sit inside and overthink things, or maybe misconstrue comments here in the winter months...I know I spend much less time on PS when it''s nice outside.

Musey, Thing2''s post got me thinking about this, and honestly I haven''t really noticed the short fuses recently?? Frankly, I think there were more during the holidays, but that is kind of to be expected. However, recently I haven''t been venturing into other forums, lame I know, so I''ve been sticking around BWW mostly.

Nothing but shoes, invitations, and bridal parties?!?

I remember the 2 month period last year, and I think it was in the early spring. I also took a break from around February to March from all the tension. I know that people that have been here much longer say that it usually happens about once a year, if I''m not mistaken?

Who knows, but I''m sure it will pass... it always does!!
2.gif

Winter, the economy, elections, realization that you did not get engaged by the end of last year ... ?
14.gif

I hadn''t noticed the trend (or the recent grumpiness for that matter), but after reading the earlier posts it makes sense. Cold weather= more time inside and on the computer.

This entire exchange? Hilarious!!! Oh please, please, please can I go to the diamond park today instead of the dog park??

Well no cabin fever for me. It''s in the upper 70s today and will be all week.

I''m just rude these days.

And hungry. Always, always, always hungry.

me too... but i can''t use pregnancy as an excuse!

I think sometimes we get all caught up in our own (and others) negative vibes, and forget to practice the ''attitude of gratitude''. OK I''ll start:

just for this
moment….

I see that all experiences in
my life are moments of learning.
I give thanks to the Creator for my
life, for it has brought many rewards of
joy and happiness. I sing songs of praise,
and I am blessed in every phase of my
life now. My consciousness is lifted to
a state of gratitude, and I respect
every living thing. I fill this
moment with joy.

I am grateful.

I think much of the funkiness comes from feeding off each other. It''s hard to interpret tone via a written forum and I think its easy to take offense. Also it''s easy to just say whatever to some random person online even when you''re not that way in the "real world" if you are under alot of stress, some peeople may feel it relieving to snap on someone online.

Well first, I hadn't noticed a difference. Second, now that I have been asked, I have to say that in Around The World, discussions were heated for many months before the US elections. Third, from a meterorological point of view, in Australia, whence some of our posters hail, the weather is now quite warm. Also: the notion that depression is related to the weather has been disproven (as has the notion that sugar makes children wild). I do not know that that means no one gets cabin fever in the winter months, however! Feeling closed in is not the same thing as feeling depressed!

There is probably enough in that one paragraph to cause several fights if people are in the mood to fight!

Well, the forums have changed over the years & to be perfectly honest I miss the good ol'' days. I don''t remember there being such passionate threads.

post-holiday blues?
I think this is PART of my problem. I miss Christmas!!! I've been uber-bored at work since Christmas break. I'm talking SO SO BORED that I feel like I need a vacation. Not to mention all the stress I've gone through the past few weeks. (dealing with a death in the family, another relative in the hospital, my Mom's health, boss got fired STILL don't know why) It's just all been too much for me so I'm always sort of ready to 'go' with anyone who gets in my way.
3.gif
That's my problem anyway...

At least I admit that I'm one of the 'bad moodies' around here......
4.gif
But that's me, always honest. I'm usually always nice. Just not so much at the moment
