Love to hear the stories of: I was going to get a....... and ended up with........ PICTURES are of course AWESOME

oh pooo i was trying to stay out of this! I dont wanna confess that I have been sucked into the kool-aid of shame! haha

fine fne....

I was happy with a 1ct rb... but after PS.... I wanted 1.75-2ct rb... BUT! i ended up getting 1.5 which isnt bad!

It was that dang finger coverage chart! my SIL has 4.5 size finger and her 1ct ritani halo looks HUGE on her hand... and when compared to my sausage fat fingers I need like a 3 ct! haha

BUT! i gotta thank PS because I have learned sooo much from this site!

and! meet people like my SS! yay!

Not me

Big stones just aren''t my thing. I wanted to get around a 1/2 carat rb in a solitaire setting and I''ll get getting a .44 rb (heirloom stone) in a "solitaire" setting with 4 tiny channel set diamonds on each side.

Don''t get me wrong, I love drooling over the huge rocks on PS, but they''re just not for me!

I happily drank the PS Kool-Aid.

MMMMMMmmmmm...GRAPE!

I found PS looking for a new setting and was overwhelmed by the choices. Thanks to PS, I found Mark at ERD who made me the most gorgeous custom halo setting imaginable to me. We are thrilled.

Then on PS, I saw the stud thread and bought studs from Mark. Then I saw the DBTY threads and had to get one custom from WhiteFlash. Then I saw ID Jewelry and had to get a second pair of larger studs from Yekutiel. Then I learned about diamond eternity bands...then eternities in other stones and so forth and so on. It never ends! Sure is fun, though.

I drank so much Kool-Aid, my tongue is permanently PURPLE!

Have to say, PS has been such a gift - in more ways than one. I heart this community.

Good heavens, YES!!

I hadn''t a clue before PS

I was about to purchase from a B&M and get much less for our $$$

But thanks to PS, we purchased from Brian Gavin Diamonds and Mark Morrell.
To me, it makes such a difference to purchase from true craftsmen and have something that was made, not manufactured...

I will forever be grateful to PS!!
Here''s the beginnings of my SMTR thread

And here''s a pic

Oh yes, big time. BUT becuase of PS bought smart so no regrets....

I had the urge for a great big honkin'' ring before I ever found PS. But lets say the urge is stronger now, and certainly more acceptable in my mind than it was before

Yep, this is me too. Rather than shelling out for one big stone, I''ve purchased a bunch of smaller stones because I''ve always been more understated. I''d feel uncomfortable with a larger stone as if it didn''t fit my skin properly.

Think you may qualify for having the recipe for the Grape Kool-Aid! haha

Isn''t it "Have You Drunk the PS Kool-Aid?"

It is funny that we get two different readings from PS. I think most people on PS want you to get the smaller stones because every time I say "get the larger stone" I am hung out to dry...as in cussed out.

The first day I ever posted on PS I told a man who had a $34000 budget to go for the biggest best diamond ring he could. Literally, for three pages I got cussed out about how a 2 ct round brilliant was the most she needed. It was overwhelming to say the least.

People mention "shrinkage" on PS. If you don''t have to eat peanut butter and jelly for years, why complain about testing your limits?

Technically, you don''t even need a diamond to be engaged.

I bet I am about to get cussed out again. I am used to it.

Before PS I was looking for a .25ct - .30ct princess cut in a semi bezel type setting and really didn''t have a desire for any other diamond jewlery.

After I found PS I ending up with a .73ct pear with side stones (over a ct tw) and got a .43ct pendant.....any I''ve only been here about a year!

Well, I just got my e-ring, and it is the same stone I wanted before I found PS. It is just without PS, I would have probably never found it.

My BF drank the Kool-Aid. He was planning on buying a smaller stone from Tiffany''s before he found out I was on this site.

Yeap...

I bought some 3/8 cttw studs... returned them because I wasn't happy with the clarity or the size. I am now looking at about .80cttw (in a few months though).. and the eventual size that I'd like to UPGRADE to is 1.5-2cttw ... :D :D :D

My original ering center is .76ct. I told my husband for our 5 or 10 year anniversary I really wanted to upgrade to a 1.25ct center stone. I thought that was huge! After being on PS for 6 months I ended up upgrade to a 2.04ct center stone on our 3rd anniversary. Besides the center stone upgrade I have also decided that I want to completely redo my ering set. I have a RB set with side stones baquettes and rounds. I have decided I want something similar to the HW halo ring- just a round version. We plan on redoing my ring set next year. Here is a photo of my orginal set....Upgrade pics are coming soon!

Mmmm. KoolAid. Yummeh. I blame Lynn B and her enormous rock. That was definitely the time at which I started vaguely thinking... hmmm... well if I ever run across a big OEC that''s a steal I''m gonna be all over that. Then I did, and I was. And it''s totally her fault, the sparkly temptress!

I thought my 1.22 ct was huge (I''d just gotten it about the time I joined PS, to replace my poor dead .20 ct wedding set that fell apart.) Heck nobody in my immediate family or any of my friends wears anything larger than a quarter carat, regardless of income. So a 1.22 ct seemed quite large to me. Then, then I started looking at that dang SMTR eyecandy thread; it was definitely Lynn''s ring specifically that caused the drool to well up though, lol. Of course I didn''t get anything remotely like her lovely RB diamond or fishtail pave setting but it was certainly what planted the seed of, er, bank account destruction.

You''re single handedly responsible for my wanting a great big enormous OMC and a yellow pear, and it''s a want that just won''t go away, so I''ll cuss you and your big gorgeous rings. Haha.

Yeah, I drank the Kool Aid. I browsed on here one night when I couldn''t sleep and phoned Whiteflash the very next morning. Then DBL a few months later. It''s been expensive from there on in. I had no idea I needed so many different types of diamond...

Uh oh! I guess you drank the rejected rancid batch. Weren''t you warned that the side effecs included a bitter taste and hallucinations?

Definitely influenced by PS here! No, I didn''t catch shrinkage fever, I am like Lilyfoot in that I prefer smaller stones but PS has lead to to different shapes of diamonds (now I have an EC RHR) and I am certainly much pickier about quality now.

I didn''t really see any cussing out in that thread. Some people took offence to FutureMrs somwhat accusatory wording, but I have seen a lot worse around here!

This is not a phrase I say everyday, but I was honestly asking. Just curious.

Well, if my post seemed harsh, I am sorry. I guess we all see different Kool-Aid here.

I think the original poster was talking about the Kool-Aid of seeing really incredible jewelry and starting to develop tastes that maybe exceed the budget. Then in this case, I guess I am sometimes guilty.

The Kool-Aid I am talking about is this attack on local B&M stores. I somewhat agree that On-line buying allows people to get more value for their buck, but many times when someone is getting a good deal locally many of the PSers (and mostly it is people who seem to be in the profession) go crazy planting seeds of doubt.

While people need to be careful, I just don''t like the attitude of "Oh you should run away from your local dealer because any good deal is not to be trusted."

Had an uncerted 1 ct, upgraded to 1.6 certed ct on my own. Then one year later, I found PS, now I have a much better certed 2.39 G VS2. And trying to tell myself that the D 2.49 SI2 wasn''t what I wanted. Sigh. I''m not good at taking pics, so forgive the poor quality - the stone is gorgeous!!
