Hauyne is exceptionally rare and in that size probably much, much rarer.

from: http://www.edelsteine.at/dictionary/hauyn/

"Worth knowing: so far (2014) the largest known Haüyne crystal measures appr. 3.2cm and was found by a private prospector in October 2012. It is in the possession of the Technical University "Bergakademie Freiberg". Most crystals are smaller than 5mm and thus faceted gems of more than half a carat are very rare and command very high prices indeed."

Couldn't find pics

Edit- Pala have had some. You can see one here https://www.palagems.com/gem_news_2008_v1.php#featured_february

And here is a 3.72ct one: https://www.palagems.com/gem_news_2009_v3.php#hauyne

Indeed most hauyne are very small due to the way they are formed, so they are often found as "grain" sized crystals that are mere 1 to 2 mm large.

It is the most beautiful blue. I"ve always coveted one. About as likely as getting a Rembrandt.

Yeah, but it doesn't keep me from looking for my Rembrandt. Just like my Trust Fund parents, I know they're out there, I just haven't found them yet. :praise: :halo:

I've seen people sell small batches of haunye, perhaps for a multi-stone piece of jewelry so you can get more of that blue color. :))

I would only set hauyne in a pendant; considering its rarity and softness, it would be heartbreaking to have it damaged and be nearly irreplaceable.

I stand corrected......scratch the band and put it in a pendant and/or earrings. Not many jewelry boxes have these in them!!

Hauyne mining is a hobby - not like red beryl or benitoite a "family buisness". There is no mining company - mostly old men - very special
(rednecks)

There are only a few vendor who sell them - I bought two extra fine hauyne from an Idar-Oberstein company for around 700 EUR pct - loupeclean and top cutting.

Rarestone.com - you know I like them - is much to expensive - I get them for 700 - 1k pct ( the royal blues) - 0,10 - 0,25 ct.

Larger stone are treated with filler and "glued" - they are very brittle and destroy many during the cutting process.

In Munich some only in hauyne and gems from this Eifel- area specialised vendor contact and visit other vendors. I saw larger stones but you get no answer about price - they even don't sell to collectors like me.

So a homepage .... I try to find some...

Thanks for the response, Marlow. I'd love to see yours. ;-)

There's one I'm eyeing on their site, so we'll see. I might take the plunge. But if you could come up with any other vendors, I'd love to know. Thank you. :)

Yeah, I figured that'd probably be the case. I emailed John. We'll see. My world won't be crushed if they sell all of them. haha

I figured as much. :Up_to_something:

Compare these gems with rarestone.com....

The vendor was correct - a bit arrogant to me but he is german, I am german ....

Worth to try it.

A small pink diamond or this.....

Be quick and take them all if you can - price is ridiculous. And cabs are rare.

There was someone who sold tiny hauyne uncut crystals on ebay once. Someone here, I think "Rockhugger," bought a parcel and put them in a pendant version of a glass vial. That's all I remember about PS and hauyne, except for Marlow's recent commentary and stones. :)

Is their a return policy stated anywhere? I'd at least like to read it first.

Typical German...blablabla - you need this here. It is o.k. - The vendor has to do this

The return policy is 14 days - starts when you get the stone. Minimum is an email that you what to send it back and you get your money back after he got the gem.

An advice: Hauyne is cubic - you have NO chance to seperate it from glass without a refractomer. Do not buy from unknown vendors via Ebay.

This vendor is o.k. - You will get what you see!! :D

A vendor in Munich....

hundreds of tiny gems

The vendor got the two larger rounds ( around 0,35 ct each - very good but not the top color) as I described - bought from a private seller from the Eifel area.
