I would approach them directly and ask them if this is an option for your stone. You never know until you ask.
If you're going to send them a stone they didn't sell they will most likely make you an offer to buy it.
I haven't done it before but I wouldn't be surprised if their offer is significantly lower than what you paid for the stone originally. This is not because of any ill will on their part but rather due to the difference in retail wholesale and prevailing trade in prices.
My experience with Whiteflash turned out wonderfully. I have worked with them since and would absolutely do so again.
I did! It was a flawless experience. They first wanted a copy of my cert and then they wanted to see the stone before they made an offer. I will tell you that the original purchase price of my stone was never discussed as it really didn't matter. Their offer was based on current market value and frankly, what the stone was worth to them. All things considered, I thought it was fair and I was just excited to be able to finally own an ACA stone - something I thought would never be possible as I had not originally purchased from them. My understanding was that they would only consider GIA or AGS graded stones for consideration and mine was an AGS stone. What their criteria was for making an offer is unknown to me but they did, I accepted, and purchased my new stone from them. I now have upgrade options through them available to me should I ever consider it. You can look back through my posts and find the thread. Price was not my only consideration in making this move and I hope you are able to be flexible too. It might be something you are able to do now with a smaller stone than what you had in mind but with the upgrade policy, could eventually get to where you want to be. Good luck and keep us posted!!
I sent WF the cert for my BGD Signature because we really wanted to upgrade with WF for their great customer service. I was hopeful, but unfortunately, the trade-in offer wasn't enough to make it worthwhile.![]()

Do you mind sharing what percentage of the original price of your diamond was offered? This may not be kosher to ask! If not just tell me so!
I did it, too. I was happy with the price - less than 10% lower than what I originally paid. My only issue is that WF seems to carry a limited number of options for upgrades above a certain size. The process itself, tho, was very easy. I dealt with Brittany, who did a great job.
Whiteflash has such good customer services I have no issues recommending them to others.
I hope they come back with an acceptable offer for you as I want others to get the same service I had.
Even after I had my ring shipped, I received a lovely email from Vera. Everyone I dealt with was quick in responses and went above to meet my demands. I am not the easiest customer to deal with and they answered all my concerns with a very welcoming approach for me to ask more.
"You’re welcome Sean. It is always our pleasure. You are not fussy at all, we deliver a very unique, high performance diamond along with some of the world’s most well-crafted ring settings and jewelry, we are used to serving discerning customers and truth be told, that is what we thrive on!! Being at the beginning of my 15 year tenure here, I can truly say we all love what we do here and with our team we have built a particularly sweet business, even though the majority of our customers only buy one engagement ring in their lives. Building a loyal customer base is hard in the engagement ring business however our customers to come back for wedding bands, earrings, pendants, bracelets, push presents, graduation jewelry and the like. I (we) are very proud of our Whiteflash world of joy!"
