So, I have a EGL 3 stone emerald cut (1.01 center & .35 each side). I hate the setting it's in...yellow gold, slightly crooked. I have had it dipped in rhodium so it looks better, but the center stone is still crooked in the setting and I don't like the prongs. I'm thinking about sending it to one of the vendors to reset it in something else. After they take it apart, I'd like to send it to GIA or AGS to be graded and laser inscribed.
Has anyone done this and how "off" was the stone? My EGL cert says H SI1 and I'd love to know how accurate it really is.
Are there ANY stones graded accurately by EGL or do you thing EVERY SINGLE STONE they grade is off in color & clarity? Of course, I would love to find out mine is accurate.
I'm also having a hard time finding a setting without sidestones so I can use my own. I'm even open to another style.
