I recently purchased an eternity ring with a small sizing bar (thank you yennyfire). I sized the ring up a bit so now the bar is equal to about 3 of the .20 diamonds that are in the ring. I knew the bar would bug me because I like seeing some sparkle on the inside of my hand. My plan was to bezel set into a full eternity down the road. Resetting would have to be custom because I'm very particular about the width of the bezels (thin). So therefor that will have to wait.
My jeweler said the stone could be a max of 3.5mm and with a thin 18k yg bezel it would be the same width as the 20 pointers. There is plenty of depth in the shank so it would not stick up too high. I looked into a saphhire and found a yogo 3.04mm that I think is the right color. It is on it's way now. Well, what I really wanted was a diamond and now I've found a 3.4mm that will work and is the right price. I can return the sapphire if I need to. Has anyone ever done this? I've seen stones set in the shank but not bezeled to where it's a focal point. What do you think? I understand that there is a chance for damage when you set in the shank.
I'll try to attach a pic that yennyfire took of the sizing bar. After sizing for my 6.5 finger, looking at my palm, you can see a couple diamonds on either side of the bar.
The mail just came. The sapphire is just the color of my fiance's eyes, it would work perfect if now I didn't have an option of a 3.4mm diamond. Does anyone have an opinion?
