I''ve been seeing quite a few rings on here from Harry Winston and I love their settings. Does anyone know if Harry Winston will deal with someone from out of state? I''m in DC and the closest one is in New York.

Likewise, is there a huge mark up on their e-rings similar to Tiffany''s for what you actually get? I know that Mark T can make something very similar to a Harry Winston.

Harry Winston deals with people ''from'' all over the world!
I think their mark-up is at least similar to T&Co''s..., if not higher...

Can make something similar..., but not exact..., and without the HW stamp...

That''s what I kind of figured. Luckily my GF isn''t the type of person who has to have a particular name on her setting.

One last technical question, what''s a size bead. I noticed that in the Japan''s HW e-ring thread it says the ring has 3 size beads. What exactly does that mean?

I am not sure..., but I imagine they are round beads on the inside of the ring to stop the ring from rolling on the finger..., but I usually know of two beads...
Maybe I am completely wrong....

a sizing bead is a tiny little piece of metal that is placed on the inside of the band to make it tighter if the ring is too big. that is what angelinjapan is talkig about having in her ring..

here's a pic..

WOW, I''ve never heard of that before. Why not simply have the ring re-sized or made to fit the finger?

Some rings are problematic when it comes to sizing..., plus some rings you want to leave as original as possible...

if the ring has pave on it, it might not be able to be resized. some ladies also have larger knuckles so a smaller ring won't go over the knuckle but they need it tighter when it's on their finger. I honestly would do a horseshoe sizer/butterfly spring, but lots of gals are happy with their beads. Plus, they can easily be removed if need be without hurting the ring. it's just not a good idea to size a ring up and down repeatedly. some gals will just add and remove beads as need be.

ETA: sizing beads can also help keep a ring from spinning if there is a large stone on top..

Yes. I live in NY, but bought from the Vegas boutique (lovely SA by the name of "Lily").
