Hello, everyone!

Thanks for all of your input...I have decided on
the Harry Winston Cushion Cut in the pave
diamond setting. It will most likely be the
1.66 F/VVS1, but I am going to try on other
sizes when I get to the HW in Las Vegas.

I really appreciate all of your comments...this
forum has been extremely helpful! :)

Have a good weekend and I''ll keep everyone
posted!

Hi Sophie, the HW has a gorgeous side view as well and looks better than the Legacy from the front, IMO. And I''ve had both these rings on my finger for hours.

I do love the Legacy side though, especially in pictures.

Here''s what the HW looks like from the side:

Victoria, wow, your dad was a nurse too? How rare is that! And we are both after the same ring! Are we long lost twins or what?

Hi, Angela!

I know...isn''t that amazing? When I read the post
where you said your Dad is a nurse, I couldn''t
believe it...I think we are long lost twins! :)

I really love the Harry Winston and I have no
doubt that it is THE ring. I can''t wait to see it in
person...I will let you know if I can time my trip
to coincide with yours. I would love to meet you!
You really did help me so much with my decision. :)

I agree with you, I think the HW looks better than
the Legacy from the front, too. I really thought I
had made up my mind with the Legacy, but once
I went on this forum and read your posts about
the Harry Winston ring, I started changing my
mind. So, I really hope we get to meet so I can
thank you in person! :)

Take care and send me another post when you
get the chance!

Hi, Angela!

Just wanted to let you know that I spoke with
Lilly AND Tony last night. He mentioned that
you told him about me...thank you so much!
You''re right, he is such a sweet man!

I still don''t know if I can coordinate my trip
to Las Vegas to coincide with yours, but I
am hoping that it works out. It would be
great to meet you and thank you in person
for everything. :)

I will probably put a deposit down on the
ring today. I couldn''t have made this decision
without you, since I have only tried on the
Legacy. I can''t wait to try it on in
person...if we are there at the same time,
we can try them on together! :)

Take care and send me a post when you get
the chance. Let me know if there is another way
to contact you. :)

Best,
--Victoria

Hey Victoria!!

My post to you earlier got deleted because I wrote my e-mail address in it. I guess that's a big no-no! There's no PM feature anymore either, so I guess we're stuck here!

Tony really is great! Lilly sounds nice too. I’m glad things are working out with them. Tony's gonna take pics of my ring when it comes in from NY. I'm dying to see how it turned out. I'll have it on my finger in exactly 11 days. Wohoo!
36.gif

Time is going by so slowly though. And we still have to fly all the way from Japan. I can't sleep on planes so I'll be a mess when we finally arrive in Vegas for the ring. Hand pics are all you guys will be getting, ha,ha!
Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip to Vegas a little short. We'll now only be there for one night instead of two. We have to leave early on the 15th in order to catch my sister in Arizona. But hey, maybe we'll still see you there on the 14th! Wouldn't that be awesome? Regardless, I'll post a ton of pictures here for you to see.

Victoria, I still think it's an amazing coincidence that we have so much in common and are both after the same ring at the same time!! All I can say is; WOW!!

Take care and keep in touch!

Hi, Angela!

Thanks for your post...I guess since there is no
other way to get in touch with you, we will have
to communicate here! :)

You must be SO excited...only 11 more days...
you''re right, you will be too anxious to sleep
on the plane! :)

Post pictures when Tony sends them to you...
I can''t wait to see it!! :) And, of course,
when you get it, hand pictures are mandatory!

I know, it is amazing how much we have in
common and I am hoping that it works out
that we can meet up on the 14th.

Lilly has been great to work with and Tony
is really sweet. Thanks again for mentioning
me to them...I really appreciate it. The
level of service at Harry Winston is absolutely
incredible (and refreshing, in this day and age).

Thanks again for everything and send me another
post when you get the chance! :)

Take care,
--Victoria

VS, though I am partial to Tiffany''s because I got my ring there I also think, between those two, the HW is more stunning. The other is nothing to sneeze at but the HW is special. I think any setting needs to be seen and tried on, all diamonds have their own qualities, regardless of stats. I know people who shopped for rings on line or over the phone, got the information and were sure they were going with one certain stone, and then saw them all and went a totally different route. Once you try it on you will know when you cannot breathe or stop staring at it! Congrats and enjoy it!

carlab, I recommend calling Tony or Lilly at the HW in Las Vegas at (702) 933-7370. vs and I both have had excellent service with them.

They are very friendly when giving prices over the phone.

Ries, you can see my hand pictures here: Loving my Harry Winston cushion pave ering

I couldn't be happier with my Harry Winston ring! I recently went in to Tiffany's to see my ring and the Legacy side by side. I have to say, my HW outshined it in every category!

Hello, everyone!

Sorry it''s been a while since I''ve posted anything...
I am finally travelling to Las Vegas next month
and will try on the 1.66 cushion cut Harry Winston
ring. I am also hoping to try on other sizes as well.

But, since I''ve been on pricescope I have learned
so much (thanks everyone!). I am also starting
to think about purchasing a cushion cut stone
and having it set into a custom Leon Mege setting
(I''m thinking double-claw prongs and micropave
all the way around--''Ashley Judd'' style). For less
than the HW ring, I can get a 2.25 to 2.5 carat stone
and the Leon Mege setting.

Angelainjapan--I would love to hear from you!
Diamondfan--Thanks for your comments...I feel
the same way-I need to see it and try it on before
I can make a decision. Thanks for your advice!
BTW, your ring is absolutely INCREDIBLE :)

I haven''t made up my mind and probably won''t
until I see and try on the HW ring in person. I
would love any suggestions or comments...I
can''t decide...HELP!!

Thanks for listening!

I''m a fan of the 360 view of rings... have seen the legacy from the side... what does the HW look like from the side? Pics??

Hi, Gypsy!

For great pictures of the HW ring, check out
angelainjapan''s post: Loving my Harry Winston
Cushion Pave Ering. She has tons of pictures!

I have tried on the Legacy many times, but I
have yet to try on the HW ring. I will travel to
Las Vegas next month and will try it on then.
I am also thinking about purchasing a cushion
cut stone and having it set into a custom
Leon Mege setting. I haven''t made up my mind
yet, any thoughts?

vs - Unless you absolutely need to have the Harry Winston name brand, I would go for the bigger stone and work with Leon Mege. He makes beautiful settings, as I''m sure you''ve seen... Obviously, this path will take a little more work on your part since you''ll have to find the perfect stone and work with 2 vendors (stone guy and then setter)...but I always feel like the more effort you put into projects like these, the more you''ll love the finished product.

My 0.02.

omg HW cushion for sure...hands down all day long!

I have never been a fan of the tiffany legacy, it's a huge setting...there are a few people on here who have it and it just looks like some industrial metal monster. esp in the larger carat weights. one of the gals on here has something like a 3c on a size 3 finger? it's massive on her! it's just not really my style.

now a romantic cushion all ablaze with diamonds and not alot of metal? i can get behind that one.

plus honestly i like the HW brand name alot more than Tiffany for something that pricey. just a mental thing.

please post pictures, whatever you decide!

eta that is what i get for not reading the whole thread. jazzed to hear you got the HW. it will be breathtaking and oh my god how stunning is that side view up top. i almost drooled.

Hi, cuteyTT!

Thanks for your input...it is really a tough decision.
I will really need to see and try on the HW ring in
order to be sure. I do like the idea of purchasing
a stone and then having it set into a Leon Mege
setting, but you''re right, it is more time intensive.

Ugh!! I am so torn...I guess I will know soon, right?
I hope so anyway!!

Hi, Mara!

You are quite the legend on pricescope...I LOVE
your new ring...it is gorgeous...congratulations!!

I''m not sure if you saw my latest post...I am now
considering purchasing a cushion cut stone and
having it put into a custom Leon Mege setting
(double-claw prongs and micropave all the
way around--''Ashley Judd'' style). I really love
the HW ring, but I''m also starting to think about
other options. What do you think?

I agree with you about the Legacy...if I am going
to buy a ''name brand'' it is definitely going to be
the Harry Winston ring, no doubt about it! I love
the way it looks a thousand times better than
the Legacy.

Let me know what you think about my dilemma
and thanks for the advice! :)

hmm vs tough call re; the custom leon mege and cushion or the HW.

i guess my question for you would be, do you want a larger size stone than you can afford in the HW setting? significantly larger? if so, it may be worth it for you to source a cushion and then have LM create something similar in a custom setting. that way you can get the look but with a larger stone. however, if you just want a little bigger or you don't mind so much about the larger stone AND don't mind paying for the HW stone/setting/name brand, then i would say stick with the original, the HW ring.

i'm not typically a brand girl, i love going custom when possible and finding my own stones, but i think in a case like this, the HW is a pretty delicate piece and i'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that it's a HW piece and that they stand behind their product 100000% so if anything happens to the setting or the stone then you know it's not a worksmanship issue or anything like that and can just get a replacement. i'm sure it'd be easier to get things fixed/changed/replaced through HW than through a custom piece with a custom stone.

i also think there is some room for error with a custom piece like a LM with that kind of setting with all that micropave and relatively little metal. i'd say that i'd be wary of having that kind of setting made with ANY vendor/jeweler/custom designer on here. ally had some problems with her LM setting where the stones fell out and other issues and i just don't know that if you are considering a HW kind of piece you'd be happy with dealing with those kind of issues. basically i guess what i am saying is if budget is not an issue here, and it does not hugely seem to be, then why put yourself in a situation where you may not be a thousand and one percent happy with a custom stone and custom ring. lastly, sourcing a cushion that is amazing may be fairly difficult. i might be more interested in this idea if it was a round brilliant, i like to choose my own RB's because i am so picky. BUT with a cushion, it may be harder to find what you want and then to find it and have to build the ring etc. what if you aren't 1000% happy? the HW is a no brainer and from what i have seen of their fancies they are going to be dazzlers in terms of the stone.

so just my random ten cents. while typically i am changing 'go custom and find your own stone' to save $$$...if you don't HAVE to and you know you love everything about the HW then i'd go with the 'safe' bet rather than making it too difficult with a DIY thing. esp due to the fancy nature of the stone you'd have to find AND the potential room for error on the worksmanship of the super micropave encrusted ring kind of thing. i'd just rather not mess with a good thing. and the HW ring to me looks like a good thing.

hope this helps!!

Hi, Mara!

As always, thank you so much for your help...
everything that you said is exactly how I am
feeling about sourcing a stone and having a
custom setting made. I have all of those
concerns, too. There are so many variables...
at least with HW I know exactly what I will
be getting and there is no question that
the level of craftsmanship is extremely high.
Plus, if I need to have it fixed
or need to have stones replaced, it will be
easier to do it through them.

I''m sure once I see it in person and try it on
I will end up with the HW ring. I can''t imagine
being disappointed. They have an incredible
level of customer service as well so I know
that if I have any trouble with my ring, it
will get taken care of right away.

Thanks again, Mara...you are an incredible resource!
