Is it possible to...to get a .75 to 1 carat(nice cut) center diamond with a pink or yellow diamond halo around it in 14k or platinum for 6-7 grand?

I don't think so. I'm not 100% sure about the cost, but pink or yellow diamonds (good, natural ones) are EXPENSIVE! If you were willing to make the halo with sapphires then yes, I'm sure you could do it. You might even be able to do it with colored diamonds, but it is probably a stretch.

Maybe someone who knows more about the cost of colored diamonds can chime in, but a .75-1 carat round (assuming?) will run you somewhere between $3-5,000 depending on a lot of factors. Then a few thousand for the setting (again, depending on which one you choose), and then to have to purchase the small colored diamonds too.

I'd check out colored sapphires instead.

thanks. The reason I asked was I never seen prices on colored diamonds and I had seen a ring that was a halo style with a diamond in the middle and pink diamonds around it. Looked amazing. I may look into sapphires then because I would really like to get that style of a ring for my gf.

If you don''t have a designer/vendor already picked out, I''d suggest Maytal Hoffman (do a search for her name) for this type of work. She would source the pink sapphires for you as well.

Good luck!

Ditto, leon would be great too and probably in the price range with pink sapphires instead of diamonds.

You can get an H VS2 .75 for around $3000 and that would leave plenty for the setting. You''ll only have a problem if you try to go over 1 carat with the stone. I think the little pink diamonds are much better than pink sapphires for an e-ring. here is a picture of one that Maytal made for Cind11:

One caveat, though, I would not buy a ring like this unless I specifically knew the recipient chose it. It is gorgeous but not what everyone would want for an engagement ring.

say if i spend the 3 grand on the .75...is 4 grand enough to get a halo of pink diamonds?

depends on teh quality of the inks, but I think that your budget would make it.

I really like the look of that ring, too, but I would definitely make sure your girlfriend would like a ring like that. I personally would much rather have my boyfriend get me a simple and inexpensive solitaire setting for $200 with a larger diamond for $7000 and get a more intricate setting later. (And this is coming from a girl who has a halo e-ring!)

Plus, a setting like that is made specifically for the diamond so if she wants to upgrade the center stone later on, the setting can''t be used for a larger diamond. Another thing to consider is that the ring posted will not allow a wedding band to sit flush, which is important to many women.

You could always get a less expensive halo setting made as well. Whiteflash.com, Thefacetscollection.com, Knoxjewelers.biz and Jamesallen.com all have relatively inexpensive halo settings you could get.

I don''t mean to be a buzzkill, but I just wanted to point out a few things to keep in mind from a girl''s point of view!

Yes, do you know she wants this kind of ring? It''s pretty specific, so I would make sure she loves both pink diamonds and halos before you special order a custom ring like this.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help. I''ll try to show her one to see what she thinks. In my opinion...I think they are the best looking styles...but what do I know...I''m a beer drinking, football watching kinda guy. haha.

It''s really a great idea to get her input. Every woman is different and she''s going to be wearing the ring.

You''ve definitely got good taste! (Said the girl who wants a diamond halo around everything she owns!) But it''s always a good idea to make sure the lady wearing it has the same taste!
