Guys-- How do most of you pay for the e-ring?

I really like the looks of that stone.

I have a couple of questions: If for some reason (when I see it), what happens if I don't like it? It seems risky to go through a site like this, but maybe that's just my lack of experience.

Also, the stone is available. Do you think it will be gone if I wait on it? Not sure how fast deals like this go.

Are the dimensions good?

Oh yay! I'm so glad you're back! :appl: I've been DYING to start help you find something, as I'm sure other posters are too! :) I LOVE getting the best bang for the buck - so much fun! You may want to start a thread with your new budget and requirements, and we can start flooding you with options! :) One option is to purchase that diamond, another option would be to go with someone like GOG where you can upgrade once your finances allow you to, plus many other options like Jewels by Erica Grace, etc.

It is an outstanding stone. I totally understand why he is doing a final sale of such an item. But, if you live in a large city, you may be able to see another ideal cut I color stone just to be sure you are comfortable with the color. Ideal cut I's generally face up nice and white. I think I told him on that thread when he posted it that he needed to handle the sale through one of the appraisers we all know here so that they can verify that the stone is as represented on the cert for the buyer. Then the appraiser can hold the stone until the money transfer takes place, and then the appraiser can ship the stone to the buyer. That makes it safe for everyone involved. You two would just need to agree on an appraiser such as Neil, David, or Jeff, etc. and then call them and see what they are willing to do and how best to do it. I think I have read on Neil's site that he does this for a very reasonable fee.

I am actually shocked the diamond hasn't already sold, but I think it is mainly due to the large size and there are fewer buyers in that size range. It would be long gone if it was between 1 and 2 carats, I am sure. I wouldn't wait if I knew I was in the market for a stone that size, because that is a good price...and of course, you can offer a little less and see what the bottom line is.

For this level of purchase, it may be worth a visit to an appraiser in San Francisco where you look at the diamond in person. Flights from NY to SF are pretty well priced on Virgin America!

Just to show you that not everyone pays cash, I did use the 12 months interest free financing and put about 50% down when I bought my wife her ER. I was a graduate student at the time and didn't want to wait another year to be able to afford the ring I wanted to give her. I didn't want to upgrade in the future and I didn't want to wait. Taking the interest free financing for 12 months was perfect for me! I was able to get the ring I wanted, when I wanted it and paid it off in those 12 months and did not pay any interest at all and was still able to keep money in my savings account as well.

If you budget accordingly and plan to pay it off in the time of the interest free financing, then you are all set and I don't see any problem using the credit option. It is the same as cash, except that you get it a year earlier than you would if you saved on your own.

Yes, I agree.
