Hi everyone,

Could you kindly provide your input on the following diamond?

It falls within the recommended criteria for table and depth percentages, as well as pavilion and crown angles. HCA of 1.3 and" Look Like Size: Big". I haven't been able to get any ideal scope images form the seller. Would greatly appreciate your high-level thoughts as to whether or not I should make the purchase.

Thank you!

My first question is that this is an unusual color and clarity combination.
The difference between a well chosen VS and IF diamond is non existent.
However at this size the G in everyday life would be indistinguishable 99.9% of the time from a D unless set side by side (and then maybe in 10% of lighting scenarios).
The proportions are excellent and can be very forgiving given there is a slightly lower symmetry grade.

Thanks a lot Garry!

I found another diamond and I'd really appreciate your thoughts on the proportions. It's 20% cheaper than the diamond initially described above, and it looks better to my eye (although I'm certainly far from an expert and I don't have the ideal scope images). I wonder why it's cheaper. A little unsure if the HCA 0.9 is reason for concern as this will be for an engagement ring.

I'll say the same thing most ppl gave advice for me in a similar situation. Do you really need IF? You can go si1 or vs and get much more for your money. Say something like WF aca or true hearts where some guessing is not needed. Also the VG symmetry too should be ignored.

Is IF something that’s important/needed for some reason?

I think an IF is a wishlist item just to say that you do have a 'flawless' stone but I think you can get way better value and guaranteed ideal cut if you drop to VVS2/VS1.

Everyone is different, but for me personally, I'd much rather have a larger diamond in the VS range than an IF that's .8
