Guess upgrades are out of the question...has diamond prices gone up?!

About a year ago, I purchased my Whiteflash ACA diamond (specs: 1.35, color I, VS1) for approx 7K. I''ve been playing around with the idea of changing my setting, or upgrading all together. I did a quick search on Whiteflash and a 1.50 ACA diamond, color I, VS1 diamond costs $13,800. So if I were to hypothetically upgrade from 1.35 to 1.50, it would cost me almost another 7K?

Is it me or has prices jumped since the last time I was on PS?

Yeah, I don''t think prices have gone up. I think more likely you hit a big price jump at the 1.5 barrier. If you drop in clarity it probably won''t cost a ton more, but really if you are just going from 1.35 to 1.5, I''d skip the upgrade anyways.

No, i wouldn''t consider an upgrade that small...I''d hardly see the size difference. But I was shocked at the price jump...I knew there was one at 1.5 but didn''t imagine double!

If you skip the ACA cut grade & consider other stone you could make a bigger size jump. Or does the trade in work only if you stick with ACA? Can''t believe it would have doubled in price in a *year* ... especially since prices have been coming down ... hmmm. Weird!

No, whiteflash has one of the best upgrade policies ever. As long as the price is higher, you can upgrade. Guess I''ll just continue saving...or stop visiting Pricescope and oogling other people''s rings!

yup, especially the 2 + ct sizes. and...will continue to fall during this worldwide recession. we may see 03-04 level again.
