I wish I could change my topic title so I could attract JamesAllen.com and others familiar with DanHov to my concern. I would change it to "Got my JamesAllen.com DanHov E-ring, but...)

As I said earlier, best to call them in the morning. I am confident they will make this ring to your specifications and satisfaction. They do read PS... Good luck!!!

Yup, give JA a call. There''s just too many things wrong with the setting.
1. The side metal blobs
2. The taper of the shank to the head
3. The prongs are too large and stick out
4. The prongs aren''t even the same tapered design as the Danhov picture

The prongs in the website pictures resemble hearts. If nothing else I would have the prongs changed out so they are smaller, they are a bit distracting. I love the pave on the side, such a romantic setting.

i just had mine reset as well. It''s very disappointing. Also, I was scared to send it back, worried that what i got back would be worse. Be very specific and have them send you photos before you accept it. good luck!

Update:
Well I called Dave @ JA today. He just told me to send the pictures that I have of my ring and describe what is wrong and he will forward it to Danhov. Also send me return instructions. I emailed him the pictures and a link to this site about 2hrs ago. I have not recieved anything else back from him yet.

i''m sure they will get back to you soon. please keep us posted..

Yay! So I also sent the same email that I sent Dave to Josh the sales manager. Josh called me back directly and agreed with me about the setting not looking like the picture and not up to par. He reassured me that that is not the type of ring that Danhov produces and not sure how it got through quality control. I should get my fixed or replaced setting in 7 business days. I felt a whole lot more comfortable after talking to Josh. Its disapointing that I don''t get to wear my ring since I just got newly engaged after dating for 5 1/2 years, but what can you do. Things like this always seems to happen to me. Thats why I chose to spend a little extra to get a designer and not a replica to bypass poor craftsmanship, but oh well...everyone deserves a second chance. So I will post pictures when I get the ring back. Thanks everyone

I am looking forward to seeing the results! I can totally feel for you! The hardest part(for me) is saying something if you are unhappy with service/product/etc. I am really glad you did, because as a small business owner and if my customer is unhappy and doesnt tell me, I would never know that there is a problem. I would rather they told me if there was a problem, so that I had a chance to fix whatever the problem was as well as provide exceptional customer service. I had a bit of a similar experience, with a used, but new to me ER. I had it out several times, to be repaired, and was told it was un-repairable...turns out that wasn''t the case. Please make sure you post updated pictures.

i''m glad they are taking care of things for you. can''t wait to see the new/fixed ring once it''s done..

It''s discouraging when you see a pic/style of a ring you love, and try to get a goldsmith to re-create that piece, and it comes back a little less than you expected. I recently got a ring with four split prongs...and when I got it, it looked fabulous, claws were tapered, resembling a Leon Mege piece. However..I wore it for 2 days, and one prong caught my sweater, and when I pulled the little "fuzz" from the prong, the prong broke right off. I was mortifed. I dropped it off two weeks ago, and still don''t have it, but I am almost afraid to see it again, since the jeweler told me the prongs should not have been modified, they were thinned too much, and obvious not strong enough! So...they ordered a new head (twin prong from Stuller in platinum, the first was white gold), and said they will be a little chunkier looking, since the goldsmith won''t attempt to modify them again. They said they looked better the first time, they were "aesthetically more pleasing", but "not fuctional". Hmmmm...I am thinking my ring will have prongs that look like your ring, a bit heavier, chunkier looking, but I guess I won''t worry about the diamond falling out with the new prongs in place. My diamond is 1.76...here is a before pic, and I will post pics of the prongs when I receive the ring on Friday!

I''m so glad that everything is going to be worked out! I really hope that JA or Danhov will also be covering the cost of shipping since they made the mistake.

I was really dissapointed to see the mistakes made on this ring. I really dislike the virtual pictures that JA and danhov have on their sites and I really wish that vendors would start putting pictures up of the *actual* ring!!! There would be less problems like this, although this also seems to be a substantial quality issue in this case.

I inquired about a virtual setting on their site once. They don''t have item numbers!! Can''t remember who I talked to, but there was no way to identify which setting I was interested in. I had to send him a link to his own site. lol.

They def need to fix that. It was a beautiful setting though! hehe.

awhhh...I am so frustrated for you

...but I am sure your valid issue will be corrected. 7 days will fly by so quickly...we will be here to hold your hand!

Woo Hoo can''t wait!! 7 days...no time at all. 5 and 1/2 years plus 7 days. You can do it girlfriend!!

Hehehe...yup, Josh said he saw the link. I think it might of done good for me to send them the link. hehehe

that would definitely bother me-I''d contact them

Finally got my ring back yesterday morning!!!
They said it would take 7 business days...yea right. After DanHov delayed, and delayed I finally got my ring a full 2 weeks and 2 days after I FedExed it. When I called them to asked JA whats taking so long they said that they were having difficulties making my setting right. ???? I am confused, this is an advertised and not a custom setting. Oh well, with all said and done here is my ring.

(ok...what is a easy way to post pics? My file size is way too big, I need to resize, whats the best way?)

--- I would use MS photo editor and then edit picture, re-size and pic from the predetermined size list (Web Large usually, but not always works. We Small does always though).

Glad it worked out, even if it took longer than it was supposed to! Please let us see!

Well here we go.
Geez, dont mind the dust on the rock. I did not know you can see so much with the macro camera view.

Notice the prongs look so much better and they acctually are heart shaped, also there are no big metal spots on each side of the rock.

It''s too bad that you had to wait for your ring to be re-made but the final result looks gorgeous! That is an absolutely beautiful ring!

Jessme7, your pictures and ring are just beautiful! I''m glad it all worked out for you and thanks for sharing the pics!

Jessme7 -

I''m kinda in the same situation....I love my princess diamond, but my prongs and setting is a little off. You can see my post "Am I nuts?" to read more about it. My SO and I are calling first thing on Monday to the jeweler to see if they can re-set my whole ring! GRRRR!

Glad that you got everything fixed Jess! Your ring is BEAUTIFUL! I hope my company can fix my prongs and ring too!

Thank you for your nice comment.
It did take some time to get it fixed, I was also quite fustrated with the jewler.
I am sure your jeweler will fix your ring to your likeing, you just gotta get across how unsatisfied you are with them.
Good Luck!
