the DanHov setting that I got from JA.com is slightly not the same as the picture on JA.com. The best way I could describe it is that where the actual ring tapers off at the bracket that holds the stone in the JA.com pic, on my rihg it squares off.

Should I call them about it? What do you think?

This is the thread that helped me find my asscher cut diamond and setting...Thank you everyone that helped me!https://www.pricescope.com/forum/rockytalky/asscher-help-t65249-30.html

Pictures? Is it possible that the stone you got is a significantly different size than the one pictured? Often this can make the shank look different because it "hits" the stone at a different spot.

In this picture you can see it on the left side more

is this the pic from the JA website you're talking about?

Edit: ok, i see your side view pic...umm, yes, something like that would totally bug me. I much prefer the taper in the JA photo. I'd call them and ask them about it. Did you see this ring in person b/f purchasing it?

Lol, well I am not sure that I would want it like the JA picture either because that one looks crooked!! But yes, if you''re unhappy with how it meets the head by all means call them. Since these rings are handmade sometimes a few little things will be off that need tweaking.

I see what you mean Neatfreak--the JA pic does look crooked!

Jess--If it bothers you, definitely contact JA to see what they can do. If it bothers you already, it will probably drive you batty a few months from now.

Top view.
You can see the tips of the attachment on the left and right side of the stone.

This is the JA.com pic. You see that you can not see the "metal spots" on each side of the diamond.

the head of your ring doesn''t look like it''s sitting on there evenly. Of course, pics can be really deceiving, so it may not be. bottom line, if it bothers you, which obviously it does enough for you to post here, i think you should call JA and have the ring sent back and fixed.

Call them tomorrow. It is different that the pic on their website. I have evey confidence that they will make it right for you. Gorgeous stone though!!!

It looks like the one from the website is one solid carved piece and the one they sent you was just a head popped into the bottom part. I would say something because it pobably cost a lot of money.

Oh yeah, once you posted that top view pic of your ring I can really see what you mean. It looks like frankenring! Send it back, there is no way that is the same ring...

It does look really different. I would certainly have them fix it.

Definitely have them fix the prongs while they're at it, they're garishly different from the website photo as well!!!!

Also, what do you guys think of the the prongs... I dont think that looks alike also.

I see what you mean and it would totally bother me that it shows from the top view. I would just want to see the pave melee not those silver stubs. Also, like someone else mentioned the prongs are a bit on the big side and not as delicate as the ones on the JA picture. I would also bring this to their attention. Sorry your ring wasn''t 100%, I can imagine how disappointing it must be to think about having to send it back. Let us know what JA says.

I am having trouble resizing the pics

Here is another

Agreed. Wonderful stone tho....

cheers--Sharon

Oh...that would drive me batty!!!

Definitely call and get that taken care of...the JA pix look nothing like what you received, and I think you should get exactly what YOU ordered and paid for!

It looks totally different to me...
the prongs, and the way the shank meets the head.

Like previous posters said - I would send it back.

I hope you can get one that looks like the picture! It''s a pretty setting!

Shoot! That''s frustrating!! I agree w/everyone else -- its just NOT like the picture -- though I notice that I see the metal bits on the sides of Gwyn''s ring too ... I wonder if it has to do with the size of the center stone?? I remember something like this happening on another vendors design too.

The prongs seem too long & stick out too far "out" from the stone IMO.

I hope they can fix it ASAP ... but, you''re going to be so sad to send it back. YIKES!! That really sux. But in the end you''ll have it just like you wanted it!

Beautiful diamond! (And setting, too, once they fix it!) I would definitely have them fix the taper up to the stone and the prongs. Those prongs are overwhelming the center stone, in my opinion. I''m sure James Allen will fix it for you!

Yup...I am fustrated, more so now.
I am so glad I posted this. It helps me with exactly what to say tomorrow, and educates me too.

Darn, I dont really want to part with it, I waited for it so long. But I gotta because the setting is really bothering me now. I am not even wearing it now. Its back in its box. But I do love my diamond.

yes, that''s different all right! those metal nubs at the sides detract attention from your beautiful center stone, i would definatley call them and discuss your concern(s). i noticed the prongs too and was studing your pictures to see if i was crazy.... and then i read other posts citing them as well, and then you mentioned it! the prongs featured in the danhov photo are lovely and what you were given is nowhere close to the same to my eyes. (in fact, i considered this very setting myself; the prongs were my favorite part, and the way the shank tapered up toward the head was my second fave part).

i''m sorry this happened.... and i hope it is resolved quickly and painlessly for you!

Thank you everyone for your help.

Now I just hope they do not give me a hard time or blame it on the size of my stone. I dont think my stone is too small, its a 1.09 and acctually faces up a little bigger too. (than a typical asscher)

They really should have mentioned if there would be any design issues w/ a one carat size stone (popular size - HELLO!!!) Though I wonder if that''s the case -- as Gwyn''s was just over 1ct too and has the same side dealie thing happening. NOT that it isn''t a legit "style" -- many rings have that detail on purpose -- it just IS NOT in the picture of the ring YOU selected.

Your diamond is a great size! I agree with Deco-a 1 carat is a pretty typical e-ring diamond size! They should have told you ahead of time that the setting would be problematic with a 1 carat diamond. I doubt they''ll give you a hard time, though. I''ve heard many good things about James Allen.

I see the things you are describing and I would resolve it if it bothers you. It is lovely though, but you need to be happy with it!
