Golden South Sea pearls with diamonds drop earrings

Some time back - a year? maybe more? - I bought these gorgeous 11mm golden South Sea pearls from David Klass. I wore them a few times, but I have a larger pair of 12mm AAA natural white South Sea pearls and I always reached for those ahead of the golden ones. I was aware that - in a direct competition - the more perfect, larger whites would always win.

But I also had 2 unused diamonds - one a pear ( G, SI1) and one a heart ( H VS1 ) - both with similar dimensions, TCW roughly 1ct. I took the pearls and the diamonds to DKJ and asked for them to be turned into drop earrings - a style largely unrepresented in my jewelry box.

So here they are! They're about 1" long, set in 18kt yellow, and completely unlike anything else I own. I'm sure these will now go into regular rotation and will look great dressed up or dressed down. VERY happy with how these turned out!

And just to add - today is my birthday, so the timing is excellent! Happy birthday to me!

Thank you, @D&T - the bezels are beautiful, but they actually don't show up well in the photos. The sun was coming from one direction, so they look uneven. But they're actually lovely, fine work and very pretty.

I remember when you first posted these because I drooled over them! Totally understand the urge to redesign their settings though, to differentiate from the perfect white pearl studs.

Absolutely love the mismatched look here- it makes them more fun and edgy than classic plain studs (where else but PS would one possibly see 11mm golden south sea pearls and 1ctw of diamonds described like that?! )

I own a teeny little 0.3ct heart (I think) that I’ve hesitated to have set as I really didn’t want to ‘lose’ the heart shape as I find many settings tend to do. I did consider asking DK to set it for me at one stage, but i went for another project instead. Now that I’ve seen this, I may need to put that little heart back on my ‘to set’ list! Never quite decided what to do with it at the time but this is giving me ideas...
