Gold & diamonds in a hot tub

Is it a bad idea for my wife to wear her diamond and rose gold rings in the hot tub?

The diamond will be fine but the alloys used in the gold setting does not like chlorine.

Platinum is fine in chlorinated water. The alloys and the gold do something in chlorinated water that makes the metal brittle, and the ring (especially prongs) can more easily break. Doesn't happen to everyone, but I wouldn't want to risk it. Of course, I also don't wear any jewelry in water anyway since it so easily slips off/gets lost, but to each his own there.
