Headin’ down to NYC’s diamond district tomorrow. As many of you know this place can be a bit overwhelming. Im looking to buy a bunch of small diamonds, specifically brilliant cut VVS1 F-G top wesseltons. Is there anyone out there who can recommend someone for me to see about loose diamonds? I am also looking for a jeweler to set the stones into a bezel for me. I need someone who will do a very good job. If there’s a store or someone you can think of to recommend please let me know.

Any tips, help, suggestions or places to check out, would be greatly appreciated

thanks
josh

1. be careful
2. take an ideal-scope

Personally. I was on the semi-novice approach and didn't make any appointments. After getting assaulted as soon as I stepped off the subway entrance I made my way up to ID Jewelry - 8 West 47th (first booth on left). I dealt with Daniel who was really really good. No pressure at all, more than suggested I take my time and look online if I wished.

I went there off of recommendation from this thread.

I was going to answer your other post, but will give some advice in this one.

Since it''s watches....I know a small amount.....a great deal more than about diamonds.....

I used to buy numerous Concorde''s and have since switched to Rolex''s and have purchased 9 over the last 10 years.

When my wife wanted a diamond bezel on her watch, we asked our jeweler if he could make one for the watch (thinking the same as you, that if made from scratch, it would be cheaper than OEM).

He explained that he could make the bezel and use the same quality/quantity of diamonds but that with the labor involved, there would be very little savings, if any, over the OEM bezel. Also, should we decide to trade/sell this watch, we would probably get less then if an OEM bezel was on the watch. We of course went OEM.

In regards to DD..........any of the decent dealers where you stand to buy an exceptional diamond at perhaps a very competitive price, you will need to make an apportionment and remember, it M-F.

My one real piece of advice is to stay off the streets.

Good luck with your search and I think you can save a lot of time and energy by just buying the bezel for your watch.

thanks guys!! I''ll let you know how it goes.
