Kimikocat, please make sure that gorgeous diamond ring won''t slip off your hand (check the size, that is)!!! Another good reason to put stacking bands on each side!

I guess it''s time for me to start checking out those stacking bands.

I wonder if I could pick up a whole bunch of bands...AND another diamond?

PSers, is that greed?

Hi there! I promised I would post images of the options from Singlestone. I created a poll for you to share your input. Here''s the poll.

I''d love your input on these pieces. I know it''s hard to judge the quality from a blurry photo, but I''d love to know if you think there are pieces here with potential.

Micro engraved band.

Oooh, pretty. For a while I played with the idea of setting diamonds in the shank, but in the end wanted a simpler look. The engraved band reminds me of the road not taken!

OK...a little update on my search for a w-band/wedding set. This weekend I dragged the FI into our local Tiffany & Co...thinking I could get some feedback outta him. The boy has zero interest in jewelry. (Funny, since he loves architecture and design and can spend hours, I mean, hours, oogling vintage motorcycles, cars, and even toasters!) I thought the FI would have no opinions on jewelry. I mean, he gave me a budget and told me to go forth.

Boy was I wrong!

He came out of T&C with a list of "I do not likes..."

I guess the Tiffany solitaire is out. It''s just not my guy''s style.

He likes edgy, modern German pieces, with tension or bezel-set stones, but he also likes a funky mixture of old and new. Baroque meets the Machine Age. In a way, this makes shopping easier--but in other ways, it makes it much harder. I can''t quite translate his vision into an actual design.

I would totally vote for you to rock your 2ct in a new and exciting setting. As an old cut lover, it makes me sad to think of you cheating on it with a smaller ring! For your budget you could get a fab setting for it. Beverly K, perhaps?

I bet your guy would like some antique settings if he''s into antique things otherwise. My guy is the same way- we both work with antiques and he''s got VERY definite taste in settings/jewelry (and very good taste, which he never believes). My DH also detests the Tiffany solitaire, haha. (It''s grown on me quite a bit, I admit.)

I have to say that the Tiffany solitaire has grown on me, too. Before, I would only look at Edwardian or Deco pieces!

Haha, me too! Exactly. I still adore seriously detailed/complex antique settings, but for a fabulous stone, I'm starting to at least *get* the Tiff solitaire. OK, I admit, though, it was realizing the original knife-edge design dated to the 1890s (IIRC, I'm too lazy to check right now!) that really made me appreciate it properly.

Have you seen the "original" Tiffany settings from the 19th century? They''re a trip. I posted elsewhere that there''s a reference in Edith Wharton''s Age of Innocence to the Tiffany setting''s modernity. (May receives a sizable sapphire solitaire as her engagement ring, and Wharton compares the naked solitaire to the ornate Victorian design worn by May''s grandmother.) After really digesting that passage, I''ve never looked at the simple solitaire setting in quite the same way.

Also, well-made/well-preserved old pieces are harder and harder to find. Or at least, it seems like that to me. I wish it weren''t so.
