DH took me Bowling on our first date and while we were there he spilled soda all over my jacket...lol. He was very nervous.

Well, we met one May at a wine bar near my house that was my local hangout, and every time he called for a date I suggested that we meet for drinks (I am one to enjoy a cocktail
emwink.gif
). It was a busy summer where I was doing a lot of travelling, and I was a single girl out on the town, so we didn''t start dating "exclusively" until August (my birthday) when he asked if we could just date each other, and not see other people. It was then that I realized that we had never been out to dinner, only out for drinks, for the first 3 months we had been dating! (we only saw each other about once every 2 or 3 weeks). I asked him why that was, and he said that every time he asked me where I wanted to go, I always suggested a wine bar or concert, never a restaurant. So, he made plans there and then to take me out for sushi, our first dinner date, the next night.

BF and I were already officially together, but our first go out and spend time together off campus date was at a Thai restaurant so I could show him what bad Thai was like...because even bad Thai is better than no Thai.

Turns out it was a great place to eat, and my relationship with the restaurant has lasted as long as my relationship with BF! We ate there for our celebratory "YAY! We graduated!" lunch with both of our families.

BF took me to the Rockies game where they clinched a playoff spot.

We'd been friends for a long time first, but our first official "date" was at Disneyland. He took me to the Blue Bayou restaurant at Pirates of the Carribean. I still have my ticket and the menu from dinner. Awwww.

He took me to a little sushi place in the city, Sai Cafe. It was my first sushi experience and I told him that I wasn''t the kind of girl to pretend I like something and smile through it, just a warning.

Dinner was great, we talked and laughed the entire time. And I liked the sushi.

Then we walked along the lake, found a little park, sat in the swings and continued our conversation. The Navy Pier fireworks started going off right when we found the swings, so that was really romantic.

And then he took me home after the fireworks. It was really sweet. And I love that we watched fireworks on our wedding day, too, it felt so right.

To the cinema to see Star Wars-I hate star wars but obviously liked him as we''re still together 9 years later

Red Lobster

Batting cages! It was different and fun. Later that week he wined and dined me, but that first night alone was a very good time.

our first date (after our *ahem* start of our releationship) was the salmon days festival in a town that we lived at. it was wonderful, and we''ve gone there every year since.

although i guess a real "date" would have been at my place, watching LAME movies all day and drinking wine. i loved every minute of playing "should i sit closer? should i pretend to get scared? omg is he getting closer? why is the damn cat in the way!!!!"

We went to a Mexican restaurant. I ate everything in sight. It was kinda like that scene from the movie Splash (anyone remember it? Tom Hanks and Darryl Hannah?) when she was eating the lobster, shell and all. I just remember him looking at me from across the table, shocked, he said, ''Boy, you can really put it away.''

ha ha ha ha Miranda, that is toooo funny.

I actually asked him on our "first" date. We went to see National Treasure 2 at the AMC theaters at Downtown Disney. I knew that he liked Dr. Pepper and that I liked Dr. Pepper (it was our bonding topic at work) so I had a cooler in my car with 2 cans of Dr. pepper and snuck them in my purse for us. He was shocked that I did that because he tried to go to the Hess station across from Pleasure Island to get us both Dr. peppers but they were closed for renovation....lol...So, he ended up being a minute late....I forgave him.....lol...

Then after the movie, we walked around for 3 hours, went to Fridays for happy hour had a few nerve-killing beers (which ended up not working) and we both went to our own houses....sigh.... and of course, the rest is history!!!

He stood me up.

I can remember that, I don''t remember the actual date after that.....And why did he do that you ask? He was scared.

We knew each other from working together, where he really didn''t talk to anyone. He was interested in me after I no longer worked there. Waited a year to get my phone number from my friend Paul and we talked on the phone a bunch of times before actuall going out. We made no real plan, just met in Copley Square. He mentioned that he had wanted his pierced, so that was the first thing we did on our date- get pierced together. He had his ears done and I had one of the girls done. Then we went to play pool, got some dinner did some drinking, then went to a metal show, but don''t remember who (they were local bands.)
23.gif
You pierced one of your . . . *ahem* . . . on your first date?? Got that ''shy, awkward'' thing out of the way right up front, huh?

I''m not even sure if I remember. We were in high school, so we probably went to a party!

We went to an awesome restaurant called Nerv in Blacksburg, Va(he also took me there after he proposed) then to a beer pong tournament... yeah we definitely met in college

!!

That''s so sweet that he proposed at the same place! Are you a Hokie?

My dh and I are both Hokies

(YaY we didn''t lose today!!!) Are you a fellow VA girl?

Mexican Restaurant, a little place hidden away in Del Mar. We sat in the courtyard, had margeritas and traditional mexican food. We ended up talking so much, we were there until the restaruant shut down. He walked me to my car, and I asked him to call me sometime and he said, "forget that, what are you doing Sunday." I liked that, a guy who didn''t play games. It has been over a year and a half now, not long compared to most of you here, but he later said that he knew on that first date he wanted something serious with me.

For our second date we went to an Italian restaurant. I was laughing hard and flung my hands up then down quickly. On the way down I hit my fork and a big fork-full of lasagne hit me in the chest and then fell in my lap! Can''t you see why he''s so in love!!! That was just over 18 years ago!

first date was to the movies...Forrest gump!!

To the lovely Betty''s tea room in York.

HollyS, he didn''t quite see it done. He was in the room, but I was behind a screen. The piercer asked if DH wanted to watch, but he declined since he doesn''t like needles. It wouldn''t have bothered me though. I can be a little strange.

The first time we went out (just the two of us "as friends"), we went to a Mexican restaurant/margarita bar. He thought I was "cute but kind of weird" when I picked each piece of avocado and tomato individually out of my salad.

On our official "first date," we did a bar-hop in my home town--he drove 2 hours to go out with me =).

TGIFridays, bowling, live music and dancing, make out in the parking lot for two hours :-) (we really liked each other, that''s how long it took us to say goodnight and stick to it)

To Tuscany... the restaurant.

I am a little ashamed to admit it, but he took me to Olive Garden
38.gif
He had a nanny growing up and ate out a lot. But his dining consisted of fast food joints and chain restaurants. The thought of privately owned restaurants still scare FI a bit, and he associates them with smelly cheese and hard to read menus. He''s gotten a lot better though and we haven''t gone to Olive Garden in ages!!

The date was great though, we were so nervous we didn''t even touch our food. We also had horrible dry mouth (idk why? Maybe because we were talking to one another a lot and not really drinking or eating anything. We were both terribly nervous.) I was flying out of his city later that day, but missed my flight (I actually missed 3 outbound flights to NYC that night!) so I ended up staying the night (before you jump to any conclusions it was totally innocent
28.gif
). Aww, I get flutters just thinking about it!!

That's nothing to be ashamed of. And if neither of you could eat, I'm glad he didn't waste a bunch of money on fancy food.
