It's been slow in here lately, so I decided to buy some new moissanites and post them here to show a couple of things that aren't fashionable ovals. this is a Gigajewe 8mm OEC, hand or manual cut. Supposed to be D colorless, but looks more like a G/H diamond. Definitely has some warmth, but that's okay since it will be set in unplated white gold. I bought this on ebay for like $108 shipped, and it's a good value imo. It's going into my Stuller Solstice ring to replace a badly worn out old Asha 8mm cz. I just wanted something decent and inexpensive for that older ring. I liked this Gigajewe stone well enough to buy a second 8mm OEC that will be set in a rose gold bezel style ring, to finally scratch my rose gold itch. The metal container it was shipped in is rose gold color. The vendor offers a discount if you buy multiple stones, up to 20% for for 4 or more. People on Reddit said they got some nice asscher moissanites from this vendor, btw.

Very pretty, very firey. Crisp facets. No haze or chalkiness. It's more like a transitional cut, I think. The table is large and the crown isn't as tall as genuine old OECs. The polish on it is better than that on the MoCo 6.5mm OEC I posted in a previous thread. And this stone is more lively and and isn't flat. The only negative I've observed in it, unset, is the tint can look a bit "dark", as in tinted not colorless, in plain old fluorescent office lighting.

eta: These were taken on a porch with hanging baskets, and the stone is picking up green from those. It's NOT green at all.

This is a Provence (brand) moissanite color chart, and the Gigajewe 8mm OEC I received looks like the G/H color on this chart.

Appreciate the write-up, the pics and videos! Very pretty. It seems like moissanites vary greatly in quality amongst vendors, and it helps to have someone do in-hand comparisons.

I ordered a 2nd 8mm OEC and waited 2 weeks to get it. And it's completely different in color and make. The culet is huge. The stone with the large culet is the 2nd 8mm OEC. It's shown with a ring that has a mid-2000s moissainte square brilliant that has an obvious yellowish tint. This stone and the 6.5mm both look whiter than the first 8mm OEC.

I also ordered a 6.5mm OEC at the same time. It's a complete piece of poorly-cut JUNK. It's the smaller stone in the 3-stone photos. Crudely cut at best. Facets lack the proper shape. Stone looks chalky and lacks fire and life. It does have some fire around the rim outdoors in sunlight, but that's about it. Returns are going to be difficult if you don't read and write Chinese. I started a return through ebay and was given a name and address in Chinese, which I can't interpret or write, and instructed to purchase shipping label from carrier of my choice. Negative feedback is free and easier. I think I am done with this company.

Upon inspection with a 10x loupe, BOTH the 6.5mm and the second 8mm have obvious machine marks that weren't polished out. I am now stuck trying to return both, but honestly, most advice I've read said that returns to China seldom reach their destination and I'd likely to be out the purchase price plus $30 or more return postage, and would NOT receive any refund. :x2

Just like with real diamonds, sometimes you think one isn't what you like and then it changes your mind. We looked at the 2nd 8mm OEC stone, the one I *didn't like, in incandescent light and a few other lighting conditions other than ordinary fluorescent office lights, trying to decide how to use it. Office lights definitely are not its main thing but this stone is apparently a candlelight stone. Loves incandescent light and sun, and the big facets are very crisp and throw wonderful flashes of fire and brilliance. It's actually very attractive on the hand and great performer. Someone on Reddit praised her Gigajewe OEC earrings as closest to the original diamonds, and now I can see why.

I had Wonkystone mounted in my old Stuller Solstice and had it rhodium plated. This stone does look D/E white when mounted (has a very slight brown tint loose). Looks great in this mounting and I'll definitely get a lot of use out of it. I prefer the platinum-white color of the rhodium plating with this white stone. The unplated setting is just a bit too buttery and there was too much contrast between it and the brighter white of a colorless cz or moissanite. These stones would look great in platinum.

The last pic is 3 unplated wg rings, and the top one is the Stuller Solstice with a worn out colorless Asha cz. The illusion head is my colorless Moissanite Company 6.5mm OEC. The bottom one is an American Set brand Tiffany replica with a 7.5mm original early 2000s C&C I/J color moissanite that has that slight greenish tint at times. The new Chinese moissanite is definitely whiter and white in all lighting.

The wonky stone turned out very nice. I like your illusion head OEC ring in the middle very much too. Thanks for sharing all the photos!

That illusion ring is one of my favorites. It was love at first site when I first saw someone wearing one. An old (literally) jeweler in town was still stocking them in his display case, so I had him make me one. The head and shank are still in Stuller's catalog. The shank is offered with pointy ends for 4 or 6 prong Tiffany head, but the jeweler apparently filed it flat to work with the boxy head. It's a very comfortable and practical ring. I've worn it daily as a work ring in chem labs and machine shop and tube mill and the lab for a cast iron foundry. It's really taken my abuse! I'm treating it much more kindly now that it's been upgraded from cz to MoCo's OEC. I might have another made with a rose gold shank of some sort.
