I thought this was neat. Artifacts found that people collected, or gave that had little utilitarian purpose.

shoot I can't even find it now, which is a shame. Some of the things on the list were: certain kind of red and purple shell, red ochre charchol and other minerals and pigments, used for face painting, geodes (found in neolithic caves, murex shell or fishbones used as combs, shark and other animal teeth (for decoration, bragging rights or other reasons) statues, baskets, pottery (which do have utilitarian purpose but can also be decorative). Basically the desire for beauty and adornment goes back a long way.

I googled the article and it is indeed very interesting. And the photos are beautiful.

I found that highlighting the link that Part Gypsy and Lady Disdain posted then copying and pasting it works better than clicking directly onto the link. I hope this helps others view this article
