GIA question: Is triple excellent worth alot more than 2 Ex?

Does a stone with GIA triple Excellent command a higher price than a stone with excellent in cut and symmetry, and only very good in polish (with HCA below 2)?
Can one tell the difference between V good versus excellent polish, or only with a microscope?

Define worth?

Price will be slightly cheaper for 2 Ex compared to 3 Ex.

No, unless you know where and what to look for.

My daughter's diamond is like that except AGS ideal for symmetry and ex for polish. It was from WF's premium select line and I certainly can't tell any difference between it and my H&A 000 or 3 ex stones.

So does that mean that I can be paying a little less for a 2 ex and a very good for polish, and not notice the difference as compared to a triple excellent? Is polish noticeable or only under microscope?

Correct, you will not notice very good polish with your eyes. Whether you save money or not depends on where you buy the stone!

Ditto I think you would not see the difference unless you are looking closely and know what to look for - a tradeperson probably could, a casual observer wouldn't be any the wiser!

higher price,yes. seeing the difference??... probably not,if both stone are well cut.
