Dear Everyone!!!
Hello~!^^

I am searching for propose ring.
Some shop introduce to me that as belows,

GIA Cert.
1.28 ct diamond
F
SI1
3EX
Table size: 56%
star/ : 50/80
Crown angle: 36
Pavilon angle: 41
Total Depth: 62.6
Girdle: Medium-slightly thick(3.5%)
key to Symbol: natural(girdle side), feather(girdle side)

I thought that diamond is GIA 3EX, BUT HCA value is extremely low. 5.4
According to HCA value, this diamond is very poor as compare to normal <2 diamond.
I don't understand why this much gap...
How do you think about that diamond?
If I brought this dia $9800, it's good or bad?

GIA excellent cut grade is very broad. There are very nice XXX cut stones, and very poor ones like the one you're looking at. Thus, the HCA was invented to help weed out the bad stones. You already took the first step in arming yourself in finding the perfect stone.

Keep using the HCA to weed out the bad stones, and the ones that score under 2.0 doesn't get an automatic pass, it just means you have to investigate them further (i.e. Idealscope imaging).

If you want ppl to help you find one, post your budget here, what you're looking for IF you're willing to buy online!

PS - IF you bought that stone... You - $9800 + poor cut stone = (happy jeweler + unhappy you)

I once considered a stone of similar stats. The price was very good but the vendor refused to provide Idealscope image. And from what I later learned, this cut is likely to have light leakage. with a 62.6 depth its going to face up smaller too. So unless the Idealscope show otherwise, I would keep looking.
