Getting the look of the Amorique without the Birks price?

I tried on the Amorique on Monday at Birks and  Out of all the rings I've tried on (and I've tried many!), it's the one that fit my finger best. Even my DH, who is not the diamond guy at all (I picked my own e-ring when we got engaged  ) fell in love with it. He loved that the diamond wasn't round (it's a branded type of cushion) and the width of the ring was perfect (about 4+mm). And the diamond was tiny too, only 0.38 carat! We didn't like the price tag though: 3900$ for the 0.30 - I didn't even ask for the 0.38.

So my question is, have you seen a setting that looks like it? And AFA the cushion goes, there are so many types out there. I'm thinking that the cushette from GOG is the closest, but I'm not sure. It didn't look like a vintage cushion to me. The square cushion H&A looked to square to look like the Amorique.

Anyway, any advice appreciated!

I think you can get this for something like $2500-$3000 if you find a cushion and get a custom setting. ...and before you say custom is expensive, it's really not (if you avoid Leon and if you avoid pave).

The design seems pretty simple, so if that's what you want, take the photo into a custom guy and tell him that's what you want. You can search PS for recs in your area, or one of the online vendors should be able to do this for you for about $1000-$1500 (my guess) in PT.

On the diamond, GOG has one cushette in your size range right now, but it's not a great cushette. If you call them and tell them what you want, they may be able to help you out.

Also, you're sure about the V head rather than a trellis? You could get a trellis with a 4mm band custom if it's the wider band that you like. Or you could get the head in the photo. The great thing about going custom is that it's up to you.

That cushette is too big though, I'm really aiming for about 0.40 - I know, so small, but hey, that's the advantage of small fingers! ;)

Which is why you'd better call GOG and tell them what you are looking for. There may be cushettes out there that they have access to in your preferred size, but since that size isn't popular, they may not bother to list them on the GOG website, see?

I see. I'm not ready to make a purchase anyway though, planning ahead for the future. ;)

To me, that looks a lot like a Tiffany's Lucida stone/setting. I have an X-factor princess cut from Whiteflash (.55 carat center) and have often thought it could pass for a Lucida in a setting like this:

That's really pretty!

I'd like to stay away from a custom order, I find it too pricey for me.

I saw this setting, but I wonder if it's not a sturdy choice since it's so cheap? http://www.adiamor.com/Rings-R2180-0-100000-White.htm

The Amorique diamond is similar to a Square Cushion Hearts and Arrows, a few more facets but still 8 mains in a star pattern in the pavilion.
