Trope

Others?

Epic.

Ugh. Your new haircut is not epic. Your dog's collar is not epic. That episode of The Voice was most certainly not epic!

Literally.

I agree!!! I know someone who frequently refers to things as either "epic" or "heinous" and it cracks me up every time because I think that epic and/or heinous should be saved for those things that are truly deserving of such titles

Legit.

Its not even a full word!

Super, as in everything is super, like super crazy, super cheap, super brilliant etc...

DK :))

Awesome!

Thesaurus, anyone??

HI:

Everything grammar.

"I can't do"

-I can't do tylenol, gluten, etc, etc.
-"I can't do heels"

cheers--Sharon

Hashtag anything.
I still don't understand it, but maybe I'm just getting old :D

That's a new one to me. Whatever it is, I'll admit to being prejudiced  - I just don't care for the sound of it! Here's hoping it doesn't catch on any more than it apparently already has. :D

I agree on the hashtag. Also, "TBT" and "nofilter." My sibling is a millennial and completely embraces it (Does ALL of the above and much more. ). I'm a millennial, too, technically, but I just...don't get it.

Also:

ratchet

yolo (though maybe this one is dying out?)

I swear if I hear the word "viral" one more time I will hurl.

"Backstory" - even though there are times when it does the job very well. ;))

Kardashian. I don't care if it's a proper noun. Make it stop!

I'm with you on this, momhappy, and I'll add "narrative." I've heard this used in political and government circles for a while now, and I'm tired of the word.

I also don't like the overuse of "epic" and "super..."

Re: Get thee to the seashore, "trope"!

The Niebelunglied is epic. [emoji16]

 My 7 year old tells me everything is epic, other than his homework and me of course...... I am profoundly over it.

"Grappling" (in news, academia) is really getting on my nerves, too.

If one more person tells me they are "crazy busy", I'm gonna hurl.

Narrative - I've been guilty of this but it's getting out of hand
Journey - everything is a bloody journey, we're all on one, sometimes it's even a narrative journey!
Cheeky - as an adjective for all things fun but a little naughty: "a cheeky beer"
"Hon" - nails down a chalkboard for me I'm afraid. Forever linked in my mind to enigmatic Fb updates of sad faces designed to elicit endless "Aw Hon! What's up? pm me!!! Xoxoxo" from 90 "friends".

Okay, I give up; what the heck does "trope" mean?

Extreme.

"the intersection of..."

sooooo overdone.

"A trope is any literary or rhetorical device, as metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, and irony, that consists in the use of words in other than their literal sense."

Amazing. Everything can't be amazing.
