FRUSTRATED! Need help!

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else but my boyfriend and I picked out a diamond through James Allen. Paid the full balance through bankwire and they received payment without any issues. I get a call a couple of days after payment goes through and they tell me they had sold the diamond to someone else and that there was no way of getting the diamond back. This was AFTER I had placed the diamond on hold, received a Ideal Scope image and everything! They say it was a mistake on their end, with which someone did not put the diamond on hold at their NY store. I'm frustrated beyond belief and all they can offer me is to help me find another diamond similar to the one I found. The only problem is, I simply cannot find another one in their inventory similar to the .93 H VS1 diamond I found that is the similar to the price, which was $5200 before PS discount. I'm sure diamond prices went up recently but that is why we bought the diamond when we did!

So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and searched for a new diamond and I am not at all pleased with what I have found so far. I don't know if it was me being attached to that diamond found, but I had my heart set on it. So please help me in choosing a new diamond.

I found the following:

I see light leakage on this Ideal Scope but per a JA rep he says "1376850 has a high H color performance and is perfectly eye clean. This diamond has excellent light performance and is the brightest of your selections. This diamond's idealscope image shows light leakage under its table but our gemologist says that this diamond has excellent light performance when you see it in person and that this idealscope image is misleading. " No I'm not sure if I want to believe this because light leakage is light leakage right? How can an Ideal Scope be misleading?

per the gemologist he says "H color performance and its very strong blue fluorescence give the diamond a slightly hazy appearance. It has very nice light performance but it is possible that a sensitive eye may be able to pick up on its feather."

Looking at these, I think the last one is the best one. But looking at these choices I'm not impressed at all!! Should I just walk away from JA and get my money back?

I would like at least a .9 ct, H, SI1 and up. We would like to keep the diamond price less than $5500.

Please help! I'm so discouraged and frustrated.

The H SI1 actually looks quite good from the numbers and idealscope. Do you have the loupe image of it? What is the price for it?

EDT:
The G VS2 looks nice too.

also I know you are looking at round brilliants...but in case you might consider an old european cut old world diamonds has some nice ones in this size range. They can make you a video too.

and a little above...but both of these are lovely if you ask me (the price is for 1 not 2):

Hmmm...

Well...I think the ideal scope is a good tool....

However, that said, both of the top appraisers in my area agree, nothing beats seeing the diamond with eyes.

I don't think I would go for the H stone with the strong flourescence that "makes it a bit hazy"...

I do thinking seeing a stone in person is important, so you can see for yourself.

I am leaning towards the G-VS2 personally.

The first diamond http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1376850.asp,, that has the most light leakage out of all of them is $5250.

The G stone http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1370491.asp is about $5900.

I would like expert opinion on this since I'm so new to all this. Which one is a better buy? I spoke to a JA customer service rep and they were trying to convince me to go with the H VS1 diamond since that is what the gemologist recommended. But it seems to me that they are only doing that because it was almost the same price as the other diamond I had already bought but was sold to someone else. How accurate is an Ideal Scope image? The gemologist keeps saying that it's the brightest one of all of ones she reviewed for me. I know I have to see it in person, but to go through to find a diamond again, when it will be at a much higher price is just already discouraging. I feel like the G VS2 is a much better diamond and I asked if they would give the diamond at a lower price than $5900 for the inconvenience they caused me. The rep couldn't answer that so I will have to wait to talk to the manager in the morning.

This is what the gemologist said about the other two

"Diamond 1370491 has a nice G color performance and is completely eye clean. This diamond has great light performance but is not as bright as diamond 1376850.

Diamond 1376714 has excellent light performance but its crystal and feather reflect within the diamond. These inclusions blend well and are difficult to see but they may be visible to someone with a sensitive eye."

Oh, I would have a little trouble with this. :naughty:

You had an H VS1 and I would not settle for an inferior cut or other spec. I would consider G VS2 a nice compromise, but they need to give you a discount on the stone. I would not consider SI1 when you had a VS1. And the new H VS1 has too much leakage!!!
