From asscher to cushion????

As any of you know who are still with me on this, I have driven everyone (myself included) insane trying to achieve the baguette halo look for my asscher. It just wasn''t happening!!!!

I made the decision last night to give up on that whole idea and look instead for a cushion from GOG. I researched and read as much as I could find here on PS, looked at pictures on SMTR and then Jonathan and I talked late today and I asked his opinion. He, as always, was very understanding and told me that he had a great cushion in stock. So...without further fanfare, I present "the cushion" being considered.

i think it''s lovely, is it really what you want? to go from an asscher to a cushion is a big change...i personally adore cushions but just be sure it''s what you REALLY want, not just what is easiest.

is there an option to trade-in this stone for an upgrade in the future should maybe you be in the position to get a 3c or 4c asscher in the future and maybe the setting you wanted?

This is exactly what I''ve been asking myself all day. The cushion is certainly a viable alternative as I am really tired of waiting for the bag halo CAD''s part2 ( almost 2 weeks and no reply).

I couldn''t find the upgrade policy anywhere on the GOG site with respect to cushion cuts.

This will probably be my last diamond rhr, but the whole process of asscher hunting etc. started in April and really hasn''t made much progress due in part to my many "diversions", I''m sure.

Should I wait until I get exactly what I want (forever?????) or choose the other option?

The cushion and the mounting are both available NOW. It would be great to have the ring soon.

Noooo not the stone, just the info. When Tim saw it he thought of me and the whole cushion quest but I think he forgot my price range! It''s beautiful! I''d love to see more pics of it but I can''t call it in, I can''t consider the stone for myself seriously... well... I could but I won''t! LOL ;D

I feel like I''m waiting forever but it''s just been since june, not april! lol I''d find a spot and lay down and close my eyes and drift off to my ideal situation where I''d be wearing the ring and have someone bend over and say, "oh I love it, it''s perfect!" and then look down at my (dream) hand and see what''s there... if it is the asscher, I''d hold out. Do you still like the pears? I love cushions, I hope that if you don''t get this cushion someone else on PS does so I can enjoy it

This cushion is stunning. And I like the smaller table.

In another thread a PSer suggested I should hold out for EX/EX on P and S. And told me about Daniel K cut cushions.

Anyone out there want to compare this stone to the Daniel K''s? Not to be rude --- really I don''t know if Daniel K has an edge on other cushions or not. What do you all think?

I think my dream ring is the still the asscher with the baguette halo, but in reality it seems to be "the impossible dream".

Reality and a very close second place goes to that cushion and setting.

As far as pears are concerned, only in pink lol!

I''ve read several of your posts Cehra where you''re looking for the "perfect cushion". Are you continuing the search until you find "the one" or are you considering another cut?

I think that this cushion and halo setting are absolutely gorgeous. I would take it in a heartbeat. no question.
But,sadly, I am not the one who will get to wear it. unless you want to let me borrow it.

I totally understand about feeling very frustrated and feeling like you are hitting walls with the idea of what you really want. I guess you need to come to terms with if you get the cushion, would your mind still be looking for the asscher- bag halo. Is there anyway you could go to a local store somewhere and try on a cushion in that size range?? Possibly in a halo setting? I think that is what I would want to try, although I would choose the cushion, but that is bc I like cushions more than I like asschers.

well, i adore cushions so I'd happily take that one from GOG over and asscher, but that's my preference. I can understand your frustration in just wanting to get something done. I say go for it you are 100% sure you love the style and not because it's just easier. A pave halo cushion is very, very different from a bag halo asscher and I just want you to be happy and proud wearing your new ring. love that stone though....

Every day I think about rounds but I''m still holding out... I''m sure I''ll end up with a "cushion" of some sort... whether it is an old one (OMC) or a new one is still to be determined... I REALLY like this idea. If the asscher/bag ring is your dream, then grab that asscher stone now and put it in a lovely and simple temporary setting until you find the right jeweler to do the baguette halo. Maybe something like Wallermama''s matte solitaire setting, which I''ve seen in person and drool over every time!

(As for asscher vs. cushions, personally, I adore both and can''t decide which I like better. I hope I can one day be in that fortunate position of getting to decide between the two!)

Just my 2 cents so bear with me. BUT, if you are willing to go to a completely different halo then the one you are dreaming of just to stop the insanity, then why not put the dream asscher that GOG has been so gracious about into this halo and continue the hunt until you find the perfect halo. You already found "the" asscher stone, so why not use it. I just feel like you had, and have, a dream ring in mind so why waste all of this time and energy to just stop and swim back down stream. That just doesn''t make much sense to me and I am sure a lot of others. You said yourself this will be your last rhr, so why settle on a completely different thing then what your dream is. Knox jewelers made a halo with bags, prob not exactly what you want, but just showing you that it can be done..... it is at knoxjewelers.biz at the top under engagement and then new designs. It is called the dream. Again just an idea that it can be done. Hope I didn''t offend you or hurt your feelings but this is how I see it. Mokey

As for upgrading, I think ds is right, only round and square H&A''s. But you can tell for sure, as this will be at the bottom of the info box on any that are upgradable.
