I like them...not sure about the movement but style wise I love them. I have Rolex, Chopard, Cartier, Bedat, Chanel...but not a FM yet. I want one in white gold or plat with diamonds all around for dress...but have not done much investigating. I think they are considered to be a good watch performance wise though!

Does Cartier make a narrow one? I like my watches a bit on the larger side, I have small wrists (a bit under 6 inches around) but do not love small watches. I am so used to these oversized things now! Do you want a satin or metal strap? I have the Chopard H watch with the black satin band, and I love it, the diamonds are amazing, but I still want a dress watch, tonneau or rectangular, in white gold or plat with the entire bracelet in diamonds, plus the bezel. I think FM and Cartier and Bedat were up there in my decision making, but since dh just got me the white gold pearlmaster I have not had the nerve to ask for another watch right now! (plus he is in the Orient right now and I want big Tahitian pearls so I thought I should pace myself!)...

I haven''t seen anything sufficiently skinny at Cartier that I like. I''m looking for an everyday watch, in leather or metal. The Franck Muller one comes without diamonds. That would be more practical. Remember, I have to dress pretty conservatively.

I love the Bedat number 3 watch, in stainless. I think they are really great looking. I own a stainless with diamonds and a yellow gold with diamonds and I think they are lovely. MIght be worth checking out.

I am thinking...the Bedats have narrower and more wide versions. I also think Cartier might have one, but I think it is dressier, with a satin band. Since I tend to buy big watches, I am not as informed about the smaller ones. And I think you have to try on, things might look great in the case and not on, and vice versa. What about the small tank Cartier? That is timeless and seems like it would fit a small wrist well.

I''ve tried the thinnest Tank Americaine, and it''s a wee bit too thick for me.

what about the regular tank? or the demoiselle? again, not sure how small they come. rolex comes in the small size, one of mine is the stainless steel with the rose gold face and the oyster bracelet and smooth bezel. No diamonds. I have the medium size. That, in all stainless with the rose gold face and smooth bezel would be great.

I like the more rounded tonneau shape, but love Bedats. It is worth trying on. It is a stylish watch that not many people have. I also have a Bertolucci with a mother of pearl face and diamond bezel, but it is not small. I think you should go to a store like Tourneau, one of the larger stores, and try on tons of stuff in your size criteria. See what jumps out at you...

Hey Harriet...have you tried Longines?

Big fan of cartier myself. The Frank Muellers have excellent precision. My suggestion is pop into a Christie''s auction to see the varieties, try them on and talk to a specialist. they are all wonderful, speak to the Geneva guys, they are WIZZES! particularly great one is Aurel Bacs, although Tim Bourne is a total sweetie.

They have a watch exhibit (and Magificent jewlery) viewing and auction coming up in April (26th) I want to say...? There you will get a price point, and some good options to choose from even if you don''t bid.

SDL, I have it in the mid size (no diamonds) and I recommended it to Harriet too! Great minds with the same thought!

I tried that one on when I got my Pearlmaster. It is nice, but it is NOT small. The rectangle is good sized, def. not dainty or mininal. I have a Bertolucci that is similar so I decided to go with the Pearlmaster instead.

harriette, it''s not small and it''s not dainty but i love my breitling. it is ss callistino mop face with diamond markers and diamond bezel. i don''t have a large wrist and it is not over the top.

Harriet...I think the FM you posted is just gorgeous...and I think their quality is right up there with Patek, etc. I suppose it could be too dressy for everyday, but what the heck...I''d wear it anyway!

And I can personally attest that the Patek Twenty~4 is fabulous, too. Even though it has diamonds on it, it definitely works for every-day. I''ve worn my daily for years.

Cartier has the "Tortue" (pictured below) that is similar to the FM, but I''d probably go with the FM, ''cuz I''d better trust the quality of the movement...

That Cartier is gorgeous too. Wonder how wide it is. The FM comes without diamonds, so that might be more practical (and cheaper).

Widget, shame shame holding out on us!!! they are both gorgeous. I would love a Cartier in all white gold with diamonds all around for dressy. The Tortue is one of my favorites.

I am a major watch fan. I have a few Michelles, techno marines, Philip Stein teslar, Aqua swiss, Facconable, etc...

my major stuff is the Hermes mid size silver H, the Chanel white ceramic, Bedat No. 3 in gold with diamonds and stainless with diamonds, Cartier tank Francaise, Demoiselle and Roadster all in stainless, the newer rectangular Bertolucci with diamond bezel, the Rolex in stainless with pink gold face, the Rolex pearlmaster in white gold with diamonds, the Chopard H watch with full cut diamonds and satin strap and the Concord Venetto in yellow gold with diamonds all around. I also have some older watches and the faces are small, I do not wear them anymore because I think they look small on my wrist now.

Totally NOT a watch person, but I am loving the wtaches ladies! Who knows Cartier? I have to find this watch!

I would have to say that the Tortue is the larger version of a Cartier watch I saw at Christie''s and I know it''s current because I saw it at a watch store just last year. Of course the one I pined over at Christie''s had an AMAZING antique satin strap and I think a black alligaotr strap as well... This one is MUCh thinner and still has the same shape and feel, just more delicate.

Actually I''m having some ''issues'' with my Tortue. It''s movement is mechanical, and maybe I overwound it or something, but it''s working only sporatically now.

Next trip to the City, it''s going to Cartier for a checkup. I bought it on trade from a "non-authorized" dealer, so I suspect the warrantee won''t work. Anyhoo, if I had it to do over again, I probably would have gotten a Franck Muller.....

Widget, I think you can change the movement through Cartier if you want, not sure about it but my jeweler told me Cartier does it...
