I was in Birks yesterday and noticed that they have a new solitaire called the North Star. It's very delicate and pretty! I haven't seen too many 5 prong solitaires.

The lack of symmetry bugs me!

Too weird and gimmicky for me. In my mind, a round solitaire should be symmetrical.

I really like this setting quite a bit - though I wouldn't want it for my ER setting - and agree it might work best for a right-hand ring - but I do think it'd be especially great with a colored gemstone.
