Hi Everyone,

Would the medium Blue fluorescence ruin this diamond? What would it look like? The cut advisor on this site gave it a 0.6.

Usually, no, it won''t ruin the diamond. Make sure in sunlight that it doesn''t appear to be oily or milky. It''s rare for the med. bl. to have that effect; but, it can happen.

In the colorless range, for some unknown reason, the trade discounts stones w/ blue fluor. So, your stone should trade for a bit less.

BTW, I wouldn''t buy a stone *without* blue fluor.

Fluorescence is my favorite!

I have a 1.5ct F Old European stone with strong blue fluorescence and it''s AMAZING. The fluorescence in the stone gives it a tint of light cornflower blue outdoors - it''s stuinning.

It''s really a matter of personal opinion. On Pricescope there are many, many people that LOVE the effect of fluorescence.

Quaeritur has two D colored stones with med or strong fluor.

She captured some great shots here and here.

Here''s another cool shot she took using UV light.

My stone is med. blue. It''s gorgeous outside and the fluorescence can make the diamond look whiter. I love it!

I would love a stone with some blue fluor, but alas it has not happened just yet...maybe the next one!

In the trade it is mostly considered undesirable so you can get a discount on a stone with fluor, but it seems like many people are not averse to their stone having some fluor, since it does not necessarily affect everyday wear and look but rather in certain circumstances and conditions...and many people here prefer blue fluor over a stone having none, so it definitely is a preference!

if you love the stone, get it, do not let the blue fluor be a negative factor! good luck!

My stone is D with medium blue fluorescence....I LOVE IT! Now if only he would propose already!

But, seriously...the stone is a great color, and when I took it outside in the sun it was the most lovely shade of light lavender/periwinkle. I think that is a neat effect, and just one way to make my stone different from others!
