First time buyer and I need some advice on an E Ring

I'm a first time buyer and I have a budget of about $4500. I shopped around and found a setting that I like at ShaneCo and picked out a .81carat, I, SI2 that looked eye clean to my untrained eyes. The stone was $3255 and when shopping around online(BlueNile, JamesAllen) I feel like I could get a nicer looking stone for the same money. I put the setting and diamond on layaway($900 down) but now I'm having second thoughts on the stone and am wondering if having the long list of warranties from Shaneco is worth the premium that I paid for the diamond? I have the remaining money for the ring in cash but I'm not 100% sure I want to complete the purchase. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The setting is the Vintage Pear Shaped with Blue Sapphires

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome!
I hope I can help you. I can't find the bbb.org for Shaneco. maybe if I spend more time I can find it or google reviews.

James Allen is great because you will probably get a better deal because they're not paying for overhead expenses like Shaneco or any brick and mortar store, you know? So with your budget you might get more for your money. Can you get your deposit back?

I found a diamond and setting for you.

I found nice vintage pear settings with sapphires:

click on pear, then pave, then sapphire:

DIAMOND:
This is HUGE! D color, 10mm! $4k 1,26 carat

I say go for a D-G color and get the best cut you can afford. You can always upgrade the setting later. Put the most money you can into the diamond because most people get DSS (diamond shrinking syndrome) and you will want a better color, cut and/or size!
So if you can put all or most of your cash into the diamond, that is my advice.

Do not buy a pear that you cannot see. There are many dogs out there. James Allen would be best because you can rotate the stone and see how light moves in it. Other vendors with experience with pears might be good as well. David from DiamondByLauren.com has an eye for nice stones. Not sure who else does.

Also, if you go to JA, get an ASET image and have people here interpret it for you.

can you get your deposit back?

I can get my deposit back at any time and cancel the layaway, and I'm sorry that I didn't make it clear but I am purchasing a standard round diamond. Thanks for the links.

Do it now!

I think that is what I'm going to do, It seems that I can get a .80/.81 G , VS2 for the same price.

Please do.

Do you have an absolute max budget for the stone itself? There is a fair amount of budget-creep on PS, so be firm if that's your real budget.

The absolute max budget for the stone is $3700 and I'd like to stay around or above .74 carat.

I've decided to purchase a setting from JamesAllen and I need any help possible picking out a great diamond from them. My dead max budget for the stone is $3700 and I'd like to keep it at .74 or above, I color and above, and SI1(eye clean) or VS2. I plan on making a purchase at the end of the week so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

too many options. what is the next thing you want to optimize? size, color, price?

I really just want a nice eye clean shiny diamond(bigger the better for my 3700 budget), the .81 I VVS2 True Hearts looks amazing
