After years of mulling over it… I finally decided to jump the gun and order my first pearls for a test. I bought them from Pearlsource. Has anyone had good experience with them lately?

I purchased the 7.5-8mm Akoya AAA tincup necklace in 16”
and 16” 8-8.5mm Baroque Akoya AA+ (as I am more drawn to baroque shapes) especially for a full string of pearls and hoping to wear it chic and casually ala @Pomelo IMG_3765.jpeg

My hope is to assess for quality (since they’re currently much cheaper than Pearl Paradise) and keep (one) or return if I’m absolutely not happy with the quality. But then again, my Pearl knowledge is limited.

I’m also bidding on something from EBay! Fingers crossed!

I’ll update with actual pictures once it arrives.

I bought two pairs of studs from Pearl Source, hanadamas and silver Tahitians.
I was very pleased with my purchase. This was a few years ago, though.

I was surprised afterwards that they did not bombard me with offers, just occasional emails about upcoming sales.

Thank you for sharing! They have a generous return policy so I’m optimistic.

I bought a strand of light-colour baroque Tahitians from The Pearl Source some years ago and it is one of my 3 strands that I wear for face to face work meetings.

I stopped following their eBay shop as I did not like some of the photos in their listings at the time as I thought they had been manipulated.

DK :))

I should receive it Monday. Im only intending to keep one since I won this PP blue Akoya strand. Hopefully I don’t fall inlove with both or else my wallet will be in danger.

Well, they have arrived and I am very, very pleased with my purchase. I can’t really capture the luster in photos but they look like little iridescent bubbles! They are much whiter and less ivory looking in person. I bought some cheapie sterling silver necklace extenders for the tin cup pearl necklace so it works better for layering.

So beautiful but also fresh and youthful

Thank you so much!! Now I want some bracelets and earrings from Andrew Moline to compare the luster... Tahitians too! This is dangerous.

It's so dangerous! I love your necklaces, so fun and what a great start to pearls! That shorter length of the strand looks so perfect on you :)

I can tell you that my Moline pearls and his samples have significantly more luster than my other pearls, I made a post about it here with Akoyas and Tahitians. I don't have one of the incredible pearl collections like some people do, but I hope it's still helpful -- especially with the samples! https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ahashi-versus-other-akoyas-comparison.288068/

Right?!? But your necklaces are great too, they're just a gateway drug! :Up_to_something::lol:

Have you gotten the baroque blues yet? What a great eBay find!

Ahhh yes! Gateway drug. Now I’m even contemplating buying some cheapie pearls to learn how to knot them. Lol

It just got authenticated so I should probably receive it in the next week!

Have you seen these knotting kits on Etsy? https://www.etsy.com/listing/560521154/pearl-knotting-starter-kit-serafil

You could knot gemstone beads too. The fun thing about this kind of jewelry-making is that you really can't screw things up too badly. Worst case you just send your mess of a project over to a professional, but you really won't hurt the pearls.
