If she said she wanted round or OEC, I wouldn't get a cushion cut. It will look smaller than a round, and the shape may not be to her liking. The Ivy & Rose option is fabulous.

Thank you for your input. I'll do some research on cushion cuts, and ask her what she thinks. I know this is unorthodox, but she's picky, so I've been showing her everyone's suggestions/ideas. Don't want to mess up on such a big puchase

I personally think thats really smart, its a lifetime purchase that you both need to be happy with, but I also helped my H pick my engagement ring, close to 12 years ago now

I saw that they're from Chicago! That's crazy that you've done business with them all the way from Australia. How was their customer service?

Wonderful. I even sent them my sapphire from Australia for them to set for me. I bought a pre loved setting off them as it was a high quality setting at a great price.

It's definitely not unorthodox on this forum. My husband and I picked my engagement ring together, and many here did the same. Picking it together ensures you are both happy with what you get, which is important with such a big purchase that she'll probably wear every day.

I tried on that James Meyer ring that's linked above when Grace was in Fort Worth last week. It's so pretty in person - I think the pictures do not do justice to how delicate and shapely it is on the hand.

That's awesome, thank you for letting me know!

I really appreciate everyone's input. The support, advice, suggestions, help, and kind words has been indispensable. Y'all are just plain, overall awesome!

Just wanted to give everyone an update in case anyone was curious - we decided to go the customize route with Do Amore. They make rings with recycled metal and even recycled diamonds, and donate 20% of profits to charity (per their FAQ). We will stick with the same idea, round w/ tapered baguettes, but due to cost she is wiling to sacrifice stone size for a product that aligns with her ethics.

Again, thank you everyone. For those that are still searching, good luck and best wishes. =)2
