Hi Everyone,

Here I am again.. I have created a couple threads here as I started looking for a diamond for my engagement ring since June. At first, my boyfriend created an initial thread asking for opinions on blue nile two diamonds (First thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/looking-for-a-diamond-help-please.231419/) but then I took over the account and did the diamond hunt myself as I want to get exactly what I want. :P

Our initial budget was under 7,000 because both of us just started working and we had student loans. PSers suggested me to contact IDJ and I did. I told them I want something face up while and close to 1.5ct. I bought a 1.4K diamond from them. It is an absolutely stunning stone! (Please see the previous thread here: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ate-a-diamond-with-aset-and-is-images.231755/) The light return is really good but my second guess my decision as it seems too show too much tint for my liking. With PSers' help, I soon found another diamond, 1.58J. (Third thread: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...-or-i-have-paid-too-much.232373/#post-4195241)

I ended up returning the second diamond too... As I believed I could do better. I kept looking at diamonds on every vendor since then.. starting from 8:00 am everyday when I was on my way to work. IDJ will sometimes get my email at 2:00 am lol I also started increasing my budget and want more and more... I started looking at 1.7ct, 1.8ct, or even 2ct and told my self it's okay to do financing and pay back later. One day I told my boyfriend I had my eyes on a diamond that costs over 10k. He told me we couldn't afford that and he would upgrade my stone when we can. I then realized I have been looking at something that we cannot afford. I started looking at stones that were underling 7K again. If I want a 1.5 ideal cut diamond that is under 7k, I knew I had to look at diamonds that are J color or below. And I found this https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...rat-k-color-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-3359532
It is a 1.66K diamond priced at 6.5K on JA. I immediately contacted IDJ and had Yekutiel sourced this stone for me. Thanks Yekutiel for being very patient. He cares about if you are happy more than how much he is making. I visited IDJ and it was an awesome experience. (thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/what-makes-a-diamond-ideal-super-ideal.234434/page-2) Yekutiel told me it is a great K, more like a J. Plus it has VSB fluorescence, most of the time it looks white. Also, even it is just a SI stone, it almost looked FL to me as there are only 2 feathers in this stone, 1 is on the crown and another small one is on the Pavillon (I can't find it at all). Yekutiel used a prong to cover the feather on the crown, Thanks!

I still have some questions for you guys.
1. It is winter now but when I take the ring off after wearing it for 15 mins, I see this red line on my finger. Does it mean the ring is too small for me? It probably will be worse in summer? Should I tell IDJ? The ring is a 4.75.

2. The setting that I have doesn't sit flush at all.. And I hate to see the gap... What should I do? This 2mm wedding band is from blue nile. I think it is too thick to wear them together. Any wedding band will match this kind of setting??

I want to thank IDJ and also you guys!! You guys gave me some much opinions and great advises! I am not going to thank you guys individually because if I do, I will have to type until tomorrow morning! Thank you every single one of you who have helped me with this journey!!! <3

It’s gorgeous!

It would be wise to inform IDJ of the slight tightness; you may need to have them size it up 1/4 of a size for comfort (I’m a 5.5-5.75, but my wedding set is a size 6 for comfort in the humidity).

2. The setting that I have doesn't sit flush at all.. And I hate to see the gap... What should I do? This 2mm wedding band is from blue nile. I think it is too thick to wear them together. Any wedding band will match this kind of setting??

Your solitaire will go with any band. You may have a bit of a gap between your bands, without a spacer. Perhaps you should visit Etsy.com for ideas of spacers (they are inexpensive) to fill the gap between your rings. ;)2

Congratulations on your engagement!! Your ring is beautiful & looks perfect on your finger!!! :mrgreen2:

Thank you for your advises! I will let IDJ knows. for wedding band, I think I don't need it for another 2 years. I am just wonder it wont go well with any type of band haha. thanks again!

Beautiful ring! You captured the arrows very well. And good for you for sticking to your original budget. Too many people are convinced that they have to have it all, right now, and they end up in debt and stressed.

That is the nicest K I have ever seen!!!! Wow! Job well done :)
And within budget!

beautiful ring and setting!!

Looks perfect on your hand. Enjoy your ring!!

It's beautiful! I am glad you found a diamond that you love! I'd do nothing because I don't like flush fit because that looks like one wide ring to me. Rings don't stay glued together anyway unless you solder them together. Your gap would be tiny with that setting anyway.

If your ring is too tight in cool weather, it is definitely too tight. The pictures do look like the rings are a little too small. I do not see a red ring on my finger ater taking my ring off in the summer. It should be sized to fit in hot weater, which means they'll be a little loose in the winter. You can use a ring huggie for that if they are too loose. But mine stay on in the winter without using one.

Wow, it's so white, it looks lovely on your hand.

Congratulations! It looks like a beautiful K. Your research really paid off, you got a well-cut and huge stone at a great price! Enjoy your ring, it’s stunning! I would love to find a stone that is of similar stats and price as compared to yours, but I think it’s not easy to find at all. The closest ones always have some sort of visible flaw smack in the middle but yours doesn’t have that, it looks clean in the video. So your hard work really helped you achieve an awesome balance of a beautiful stone right in your price range :) Very happy for you, the pictures are stunning!

Great job! I am glad that you and your fiancé came to an understanding and agreed on a budget for your engagement ring! It is so important to be on the same page and so appreciate hearing about you working that through. You should be quite pleased and ecstatic for picking a great stone, large size, within your budget and quite substantial look. It is truly stunning and wear in good health and long life to both of you!

I totally understand budget-creep - so glad you reined it in and found this beautiful diamond. It looks amazing!

Thank you! it was so hard. At one point I looked at some diamonds that are around 12k! It is crazy to think about how I wanted something I couldn't afford

Thank you. It took me a while but I am glad that I did i. :) when I cam financially afford a bigger one I will def upgrade lol

Beautiful! Looks very white!

Thank you. E-G color diamonds look white all the time. But k color diamonds can look white or cream color depends on the lighting and the environment. Having a diamond that can have different looks. Why not haha :P

beautiful ring and setting!!
Thank you! Yekutiel picked this setting for me!! I like the tiffany head setting. The band is so dainty but doesn't feel flimsy! It also makes the stone looks bigger too since its tapered lol
