This is a winner diamond. The feather is easily prongable and away from the arrow heads. Excellent find. I'd get that one if it was my money. You won't be disappointed.

Congratulations! What a lovely idealscope! We went through many stones but I think you got the perfect one for you in the end. I'd much rather pay extra for colour than clarity and that is one clean si2. What setting are you going to get? Please show us the finished ring :angel:
 
Quick question for the experts, does the feather near the girdle pose a setting risk for the diamond?

I've read the experts say that the feather has already undergone the rigorous cutting and polishing process and if it could withstand that, setting would not be a problem. I've also read the experts say that if the setter is concerned, they will place the prong right next to instead of on top of the feather. :wavey:

I bought it yesterday! Now I'm waiting to send it. Too bad that does not come to me with James Allen box for engagement ring because I only bought the diamond and the setting we want to find in Italy, it is easier for us.
Expect 500 € taxes by Customs, was budgeted. Diamond total cost will be around $ 2,600.
So happy!
 
Congrats!! Those settings are all pretty basic and JA has a few similar ones. Are you sure you wouldn't want JA to set it and assume the liability? If you buy a setting in Italy, you'd have to make sure you get it set by someone reputable as you don't want anything to happen to the diamond in the process.

Is it somehow less expensive to have a loose diamond sent rather than just have James Allen set it? If it isn't, I would just pick one of their settings and have it made into a ring. It will save a lot of hassle trying to find a setting that perfectly fits the dimensions of your diamond, and then the risk of having someone else set it (buying insurance for a loose diamond is somewhat a hassle in the US, I can't imagine doing it in Italy).
 
Hello, the cost of setting of James Allen and any other site in America is more expensive even considering the taxes that I pay. It becomes very inconvenient for me. But it is not only reason. I want to see him live setting, try it, the quality of gold in Italy is very good, is 18K. I go into safe store that has been taking care of the gems for years. The average price for the setting here in Italy is EUR 350-400.

Do you have some consideration for 4 or 6 prong? I don't like a very high setting, do not want it protrudes too far out. I like both 4 prongs that 6. Consider my SI2 "problem" diamond, what do you think?

Ring sizes are too different. My is 18 in our system.

Okay, that's very interesting! It makes sense to me. Could you go to a jeweler with the diamond once you have it and show it to you loosely in a couple different settings? You could take pictures and then share them here so we can help you decide. I think either 4 or 6 prong could work.

I forgot to say that although it is a SI2 clarity, I do not see anything with the naked eye, but I do not see even with a magnifying glass! It was a super choice.

I have an Olloclip for my iphone that allows you to take macro photo (mine still isn't great but it was one of the nicer ones haha). I still haven't figured out how to get macro photos out of our DSLR! :cry:
