So this diamond is going to be set in a Tacori 2620 ring and I plan on purchasing that setting through a local retailer.

Well, I just got off the phone with them and they were saying that James Allen was a less than reputable dealer and that there were many instances where the diamond on the website didn''t match the one that was sent. Additionally, they told me that the comments on the AGS cert could really impact the quality of the stone and that is why they could offer it at such a low price (I''ve attached the cert again for reference).

I have read enough posts on this website to think that they are blowing smoke up my a**, but do I have anything to worried about?

Er......what''s not to like about that stone?

Cut grade AGS0.
H&A.
Near-colourless (H).
VS inclusions.

I''d be very happy if I was the owner of that stone. The combination of features (cut, colour, clarity) is excellent.

That is bull. They're just trying to scare you into buying your diamond from them--probably a much worse stone for more money.

James Allen is a reputable business. They will not send you the wrong stone. But if you're worried, take the diamond to an independent appraiser during the return period to verify that it's the right stone and quality.

Oh, and I would find a different jeweler to buy the setting from. Anyone who tried to pull that bull on me would lose my business immediately.

Yep, they are trying to get you to doubt JA and buy a diamond from them.

That makes me feel better. JA has provided a lot of info and pictures and I had their gemologist look at the diamond in person to give me her thoughts. Would I have any reson to doubt her judgment on the diamond? I would go to another jewelery store but there are very few places that carry Tacori, any thoughts?

JA''s gemologist, I believe her name is Julianna, has a good reputation on this site. When I was looking at diamonds from JA in the spring, she advised me not to buy a certain stone because she was worried about the position of the feather. I''d say she is trustworthy.

I would not trust the retailer who told you the lies about JA, and I would do everything in my power to buy the setting somewhere else. Is there another vendor in a city close to you that you could work with? Can you get the setting from another online vendor and have the stone set by the online vendor?

If you still want to do business with this vendor, I would tell them that you have done your research and are comfortable with the JA stone and tell them that if they want your business, you don''t want to hear another disparaging word from them about JA. I would also make sure that my stone was fully insured before I left it with this vendor.

JA have a good and well earned rep here, you can buy from them with confidence. I have seen many happy customers of theirs over the years.

Oh and also thats poppycock concerning the comments on the grading report.

I wouldn't want to do business with this jeweler either. Shame on them.

What you could do, is purchase the Tacori setting through GOG, and have them send it to JA to set. JA is only one of a couple online vendors that will cover the stone should something happen to it while setting. (i.e. chips, cracks) Highly unlikely, but you would be covered nonetheless. They have a setting fee of (generally) 100.00, and, they have the right to refuse setting the stone. That would apply to stones with proportions that might compromise things, I would think.

I would imagine your jeweler was going to charge you a fee also? At any rate, that is what I would do.

I never thought I would feel this comfortable about a purchasing a $12K diamond, but thanks to all of your help I found a great diamond and at a great price. AND the $1000 discount for being pricescope member was the icing on the cake!!!

I have to send the diamond off to be set in a Tacori 2620 setting, but I will post pictures as soon as I get it back or after I ask her.....it''s going to be hard not to ask her right away :)

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats. :)
